The Court'n House doesn't look like much from the outside, but when you walk in the door, you are generally hit with the wonderful, magnetic smell of great hamburgers.
They aren't oversized, perhaps, but they are incredibly good and filling bar burgers. Straightforward and juicy, with a touch of crispiness (though that may be from the bun - I think they throw those on grill those, too). Thursday nights are two for one - an incredible bargain.
There are a variety of standard configurations, though most condiments and toppings like lettuce and tomato are 25¢ each. (Mustard and Ketchup are on the table.) I see people getting the ribeye special on Saturdays and it looks good, but I just keep coming back for the burgers. Two of us can get out with sodas (my husband loves their fountain root beer), burgers and fries for under $20, with a generous tip.
There's only one other place I go for burgers in Eau Claire - we split ourselves 50/50 on where we go. The only thing that keeps us from eating here more often is that sometimes it's very crowded (especially Thursday or weekend nights), and you have to wait an hour or more. Normally it's not a problem, but it can be a crush since there's not a huge amount of seating. With the bar filled, there's just no place to stand and wait.
But it wouldn't be crowded if it wasn't that good :)
