Stayed here for 3 nights and glad we did. So convenient. Our fishing guide pulled right into the parking lot. The condo was gorgeous. Right outside was the lake, picnic tables, bike path, boats etc. They had a variety of activities for the children which were many. I would have liked an upstairs unit as we had to keep our curtains drawn a lot for so many people walking by. The lake is very busy so not much fishing. Front desk help were very friendly and helpful...I agree for families that a 9:00 am checkout is too early. Wanted to try the restaurant but never got there. Unfortunately we heard by letter that starting next year you will have to rent for a week in the summer.

Room Tip: Upstairs for less noise. Choose a unit facing the larger lake.

The facility boasts a number of ammenities that would strongly align with the needs of Families. It's clean and well kept. Boat rentals are available, boat launch is on the property. Sandy beach for the kids as well as a clean, indoor pool area if the weather turns against you.

A number of different Bedroom configurations are available as well as positions around the property. We stayed in two different 3 BR units. I would recommend a 2nd floor unit and facing Duck Lake if the option is there. 2nd floor to avoid being below any heavy-footed upstairs occupants.

I'd recommend the location, but would advise you to watch your total visit cost. The resort is not inexpensive. A multi-day stay with a boat, along with a dinner or two at the Blu Heron will add up in a hurry.

Also keep in mind they have a 9:00 a.m. check out time. Somewhat early for resort properties in the Northwoods. Make sure to plan this into your overall trip timeline.

Room Tip: Upper Level rooms avoid noise from heavy-footed upstairs guests. Also, ask for a Lake-facing unit i...

We have stayed at this resort for the past three summers. It is a lovely setting and the condos are very comfortable. The front desk and the new restaurant leave something to be desired, however, given the price (around $350 a night). The checkout time is 9 a.m., and that is set in stone -- not even a half hour extension -- even though there was not a housekeeper in sight when we timely checked out. The restaurant refused to take a reservation due to a festival on the property, and even when the restaurant was not busy the staff refused to allow us to place a carry out order for 2 people. We were very disappointed with the attitude and plan to look elsewhere for next year.

During the busy summer season (middle of June through the middle of August), Our check out time is 9:00am. Like many Northwoods resorts, the reason for this early check out is so our housekeeping department can "turn" our 72 lodge homes. Since our lodge homes are large condos versus smaller hotel rooms, they take quite a bit longer to clean and have ready by the 3:00pm check in time. Therefore, we must keep to the 9:00am check out time during the summer season. Any other time of the year our check out time is 11:00am. The Blue Heron Supper Club and Lounge opened in December of 2012. Since this establishment is brand new, we are continuously evaluating our hours, menus, and policies to find what works best for our guests and customers. The Blue Heron Supper Club and Lounge management had decided that during our Wild Days event that they would be unable to take reservations or allow carry outs. This way, they could ensure good customer service to the guests who were dining in the restaurant. Allowing carry outs would have prolonged the time it took for a meal order to be placed and the time for the entrees to be served for the dining room customers. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. We thank you for the feedback and will revisit this policy for our Wild Days Event in 2014. We hope this guest of the past three years reconsiders their travel arrangements for next year and comes back to stay with us once again.

My wife and I had decided that we wanted to take a vacation for the two of us in Eagle River and started researching options. When we settled on the Wild Eagle Lodge, we weren't fully sure what we were going to get, but I can honestly say we were blown away by the resort. The condo was very large, the view from our deck of Duck Lake was fantastic, and the various amenities were very inviting. We're looking forward to bringing our son next time so he can participate in the various goings-on there. We rather enjoyed being able to take a canoe out on the lake, the beach was great to sit at, and the Blue Heron restaurant was pretty good as well. Can honestly say we will be back.

My son was referred to this place from his business partner, so my daughter-in-law reserved it for 8 days in July way back in December 2012 thinking that it could be sold out for the 4th of July. They invited the babysitting squad (yes Grandma and Grandpa) along for 4 days. As it turned out...so did the majority of the families at the property! What a great place! We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit on the 2nd floor. Every unit has a lake view out the back. The property is VERY clean; the unit had a nice kitchen-dining-living area with fireplace with a pull out sofabed. A good sized balcony with a rectangle patio set/4 chairs; although you could probably fit six if you needed to. Bedrooms are large and have large closets so you are not tripping over your bags. The master bedroom has it's own bathroom with tub and shower and the 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds that you could push together with plenty of room. The main bath had a huge walk in shower with built in retractable clothes line, linen closet and a good sized one sink vanity. There were two storage closets in the hallway for all of your things that you brought along; in our case we had a double stroller, toddler and baby life jackets, fishing poles, tackle box, inflatable inner tubes (you get the idea). They do provide adult life jackets and they even had a booster seat for the 10 month old. Unit had all the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, wine glasses, utensils toaster, coffee maker, iron ironing board and hairdryers. Lower units had large patios and Weber kettle grills at their disposal; while the upper units would have had to either use it before or after the lower units. The beach area is not real big, but it is nice, with plenty of sand going into the water. Kayaks and canoes are available to use; while the pontoon boats you have to rent. Make sure you do rent one for the day and putter around the chain of lakes. There are places to stop for lunch or to swim; if only the water were a bit warmer; but hey, it's Wisconsin! The property was completely booked, yet it didn't feel crowded. They had fireworks right over the lake and a lot of people were in their boats on the lake to watch them. The "Pirate Ship" sails several times a day from Pirates Hideaway that share the same lake. http://www.eagleriverpirates.com/index.html. We had a great time; maybe next year we'll walk the plank!

Room Tip: Try to get something in the middle of the property; as we were on the end and it was a bit of a walk...

We just returned from a four night stay (early July)in a townhouse at Wild Eagle Lodge. What I noticed right away was the thoughtfulness in the design of the property. The decks that faced the lake were stagged in the townhouses we stayed in facing Lynx Lake. Which meant when you went out for morning coffee or tea at your patio table you had privacy and a beautiful peaceful view. The same is true for the lower level with the patios. The patio doors were Pella and moved so smoothly, I had never seen a self closing screen door before, what a great idea! The decor was perfectly done in a tasteful, not over the top northwoods manner. The units smelled brand new even though they are not, I believe there was some recent remodeling? Loved the layout of the three bedroom, it was huge! Loads of space in the living room and the biggest deck ever. The bedrooms were large, lots of storage and closet space. The beach area was pleasant and never too crowded as there is such a variety of activities. Kayaking, Pontoons boats, speed boats, jetskis, hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, bb court, playground for big kids, playground for little kids. I especially liked the size of the Hot Tub, it could hold our entire party, good size! The pool was a nice depth for younger kids 3.6 to 4.6, though at one point our group of adults was in there playing volleyball. There is also a zero depth pool that goes to 1.6 feet for the wee ones, it was great. The food was mostly really good at the Blue Heron, I heard the Chef came from a sucessful career in Chicago or something. I have never had such fine bruschetta or coconut prawns. The prime rib was excellent but there needs to be some fine tuning on the presentation of medium, mediium rare, well done etc., that was off, I ordered medium and it was quite rare looking. They were great about addressing any concerns, though there were very few. There were no crowds even though the resort was sold out. Eagle River it self is the place to see a real Eagle according to the locals. we did take a Pontoon southwest on the river and did see an Eagle! It was huge and really cool to see live. There is a place in town (five minutes away) that has lattes if you are missing your mochas. It is called the Mocha Moose. I recommend taking lots of mosquito protection for the smores around the campfire but its worth it! We can't wait to return. Thanks Patty! (owner)

Great location, quiet and peaceful grounds. Kitchen has all the necessities for making meals. Nice beach with plenty of chairs. The kayaks, canoes and rowboat are free to paddle around the chain of lakes. There are other rentals to use if you choose to pay extra. Very clean accommodations. Fire pit areas along the water with available kindling and firewood and rustic outdoor seating with attached tabletop for setting all the s'mores fixings. Pleasant and helpful staff. This place is a delight and has the "extras" that make your stay so enjoyable!
