Owner description: Old World Wisconsin is a fun way to experience the lives of immigrants to the Midwest in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Visit one of the ten working farmsteads and chat with the farmer or farm wife. Gather eggs, help in the kitchen or wood shop at the new "Life on the Farm" experience at the Koepsell Farm. Check out the 12 heirloom gardens and heritage breeds of chickens, pigs, sheep, cows, horses and oxen. Wander from farmstead to farmstead on foot or hop a tram--at a little under 600 acres you'll want to plan on at least half a day to explore everything. You can enjoy a snack or a light meal at the Clausing Barn Cafe. Old World Wisconsin is also a special place for a one-of-a-kind wedding, meeting or reunion. Or, learn even more about 19th-century life at a special workshop, day camp or school tour.

We took our two youngest children for an afternoon of history and outdoor adventure. The presenters were very helpful and friendly. Our kids really enjoyed learning what life was like before cell phones and computers. We had a great fall day to enjoy some outside activity. They were just about fifshed with harvesting theircrops but the children got to see the hard work required without the help of tractors and other powered machines. I suggest every child experince this and it was fun for the adults to.

I LOVE history, and I absolutely adore Wisconsin history! This is THE place to travel back in time in Wisconsin history and get a real taste of what life was like when the state was established. Excellent staff, location and food!

Spend a day exploring this collection of working farms that depict settlement times in early Wisconsin. Take convenient trams from farm to farm or walk connecting trails as time and energy allows. Great fun for kids, couples or elders--there is something here for everyone--day camps, workshops, costumed intrepreters, vintage baseball, and other activities. Limited cafeteria style dining at the lower level of the Clausing Barn, bring your own picnic, or lunch in nearby Eagle. Best buy with a Wisconsin Historic Sites and Museums Passort which includes a year of free admission to OWW and 10 other Wisconsin historic sites and museums. http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/passport/

We were NOT disappointed but our visit would have been more informative IF there had been more docents available to offer explanations. The trolley makes getting around the area so easy, even for those of us with walking difficulties! I'm only sorry that the site is too isolated to support a really nice restaurant as the food offerings were very, very limited.

Great way to spend the day! A step back in time with all original buildings and people dressed in the period. I enjoyed seeing the recreated settlements and the people in the respective houses or stores/barns were all so friendly and knowledgeable of the times. Because they were so enthusiastic you definitely could feel how it would be during their period of time. You can bring a picnic lunch or eat on the premises. We chose to bring our lunch so I cannot judge the quality/quantity of food that is served in a large barn. We partly walked/partly rode the very efficient tram service. The drivers were knowledgable and added to the experience. You never had to wait long for the tram either. While we were in the shoemaker's building we spoke to a visitor that came to specifically see that building - a building that once stood in his town in Wisconsin and that he remembered visiting as a wee boy. It was a moving experience for him. You definitely get the "Little House on the Prarie" feeling......and that is a GOOD feeling! Don't miss this stop!
