Lapham Peak is part of the State park system and is well designed and maintained (hence the need for a modest entry fee.) There are multiple hiking trails of various levels, lengths and difficulty, plus a paved trail for health challenged individuals. Four parking lots serve the various use areas: a lower lot for access to the hiking trailheads and biking areas, a lot serving the Homestead Hollow shelter, small pond and trails, a large lot serving the recently opened Nature Center, and an upper lot for the observation tower. There is also an outdoor summer stage with weekly performances.
In the winter time there are groomed and lighted cross country ski trails. The Ice Age Trail goes through the center of the park and includes an overnight backpack site (with reservation). No other camping, swimming, boating activity is available. This is a park for people that enjoy a slower, closer to the environment experience
