“Great authentic Mexican ”
Reviewed April 19, 2014 via mobile

I like to order the 'special dinner', it has a great variety served on two large plates for about $12.

I've had other items off the menu and have never been disappointed.

The service has always been quick and friendly.

“Mom loves it, what else is there to say...”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

I've been to El Maya about a half dozen times over the past 5 years or so...I live far far away from there and would stop in w/Mom and Dad when we were driving past...first time I found it quite by accident...it is as others have said in a 'gas station plaza' along w/a convenience store...the food here is consistently good, tasty and very well priced, esp. when compared to Maui prices (I live on Maui)...this last trip, a week ago, had a late lunch...I went for the enchiladas suizas (w/spicy green sauce, all chicken ones), refried beans and shredded lettuce on the plate...chips are served straight away with salsa and a bean dip as soon as you sit down...Mom went for the Enchiladas Rancheras...Three cheese enchiladas topped with tomatoes, bell pepper, and enchilada sauce. Served with lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole...I'm not a huge fan of rancheras sauce hence the suiza for me...though I must say their presentation was spot on quite different from the usual ranchera sauce I see...nice with the above mentioned sweet peppers etc in the sauce...very tasty! both orders were 3 enchiladas, needless to say we didn't have to make any dinner at home...ha ha...
price for the two of us with no drinks was 22$ approx...
the people here are very friendly...remember you, and are family...they run 4 El Maya all in the Green Bay/Appleton area...
do give them a try...

aloha...

“Strange taste to food”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

This is a small Mexican restaurant in a gas station plaza. I dropped in expecting a glorified fast food joint, but the prices and menu were that of a "real" sit-down restaurant, costing me around $15 for lunch and tip, no drink. Service was friendly and attentive, although the place was loud without many customers. View was of the parking lot. The food presentation was nice, but then as I was eating my food I reached an area that tasted like cleaning chemicals. I stopped eating immediately, but was still a little sick for the next day. The kitchen area also was visible and looked chaotic, with servers apparently helping with preparation after the cook had put the food out. I'd rate them as average if it weren't for the bad food thing. They didn't offer to replace my lunch even though I mentioned it to them and left most of my food on the plate.
