We planned to stay in Timaru for the night but it was way too busy for us. So we turned around and headed back the 19klms to sleepy Pleasant Point where we had passed through earlier.
In a quiet backstreet we found Serenity Guest House/Motel. From the outside it was picture perfect and very inviting. We were warmly greeted by the owner and taken to our studio room. The room didn't disappoint. Although small (being a studio), it was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. Quite obvious the owner took personal pride in its presentation. Best of all you could only hear the twittering birds in the surrounding greenery unlike the heavy traffic in busy Timaru. The room had a small kitchen and we bought food to cook from the nearby supermarket. The town also had a pub which served meals. We also made use of the laundry facilities at the motel. Overall a most relaxing stay.
