Nice atmosphere and nice bar. Delicious chicken and potatoes. Prices are a little above average. Located in downtown Cottage Grove. Make sure and sign up for their birthday club and you'll get a free meal for your birthday.

Met friends at the 1855. The weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio...nice views from the back if the countryside & Glacial-Drumlin bike path. The waitress was very attentive and nice. I had a brick oven baked pizza with Ceasar salad--at least that's what I thought. The Ceasar salad was under the pizza...a combo. It was good. Nice atmosphere, I'd go back again.

We make a trip up from Milton Wi at least once a month. The food is always well prepared and there is a big variety of choices from the menu. It does get busy, the bar could've been a little more spacious with more seating. There Is live music and the musician is crammed in a corner, it would be nice to be able to see them more. BUT the drinks are great and it's a fun place to go to. It is locally owned so I think they run a tight ship and want to keep the community satisfied. We've never been disappointed!

I first tried 1855 over the past six months, and both experiences were very good. Our first trip was on a Friday, and we were happy to see a selection of seafood beyond the ubiquitous Wisconsin Fish Fry. Recommend the crab stuffed flounder.
Stopped in most recently on a Tuesday and discovered their Pasta Bowl special. Our group of five each had a different option and everyone was satisfied.
Service was prompt and friendly. Pricing was average and a decent value. The location is just outside of Madison, and I noticed that reviewers from surrounding rural areas were upset about pricing and portions. They obviously haven't visited a restaurant in Madison lately.

Walked in for a Friday Night Fish Fry. Waited twenty minutes, was not handed a menu, seen if I would like a drink, nothing. Walked out and will never be back again. Poor customer service does not work very well in the food industry. This place did not show any customer service.

I would not recommend this place to anyone desiring a nice meal, save your time and go elsewhere.
