We stopped here at the recommendation of a woman we met working at Leinenkugel's. We figured if her family ate there it must be pretty good, so we decided to stop.
We were not disappointed! We received a bit of a strange first impression as furniture was strangely arranged, but there was a sign letting you know they were in the middle of painting (although thankfully no equipment or scent). That made me like them more instantly, as that showed it was "real people" running the place and not a chain that would never allow interruptions such as that.
We were seated quickly and noticed they have 18 beers on tap... We had come to try local beers but not beng familiar with them it was hard to choose! Our server was quite helpful in pointing us in a delicious direction. Beer on tap was great, although a bit colder than I usually have (but how can you truly complain about beer that's too cold??).
We ordered fried cheese curds to start - they came quickly and were crispy, hot and amazing! These cheese was super mild and matched well with the ranch sauce.
We wanted a smaller meal so two of us ordered the sirloin steak to share. It was perfectly done (impressive for almost any restaurant), and just a good hunk of meat. We ordered steamed broccoli and the pub fries as our sides. The broccoli was sinple but fresh tasting, and the chips were perfect. Just the right amount of soft inside and crunchy outside. We shared the meal between two of us and were still stuffed.
Our server continued to be genuinely attentive throughout our meal, which is a bit unusual we thought, and much appreciated!
Overall a great experience!
