My husband and I gave a Living Social Certificate to my sister and her husband as a Christmas gift this past Christmas and as I told them, it was a very selfish gift because we also bought a certificate for ourselves so we could join them! It couldn't of been a better way to spend time together. The inn is fabulous. The rooms are large and charming, impeccably clean, and very inviting. We found the wine tour very interesting and enjoyed having the same wines during the cheese and wine social that evening. Following the wine tour my sister and I explored some of the charming shops in Cedarburg while the guys relaxed back at the inn. We had a great dinner at Morton's which is right behind the Washington Inn and followed it with a rousing game of Hearts in one of our rooms. The breakfast Saturday morning was perfect with a wonderful selection of pastries, breads, fresh fruit and a hot ham and cheese strata. The much appreciated late check-out of noon allowed my sister and I to explore more of the shops in town while the guys relaxed (again!) in their rooms.
It was a perfect visit and we are sure to repeat it again........even without a certificate.

Take a hotel that is almost 140 years old and update it to today's plumbing, electricity, and electronics while retaining the original charm and you have this property. Each room seems unique and very pleasant. The staff is very attentive and proud of their place. The rooms are very quiet on a busy street. A nice addition is the wine and cheese served in the late afternoon. It is a wonderful way to meet guests from the surrounding states. The crowning glory is breakfast! There is fresh fruit and juices, home made cereal and warm pastries that will keep you coming back. It is a short drive from Milwaukee. Try it and you will come back.

We used a living social coupon deal, having never been to Cedarburg and wanting a quick getaway. Wow! Some of these historical updated towns and establishments sort of verge on cheesy (sorry, Wisconsin) but most of Cedarburg falls into the pleasantly classy category, and the Washington House Inn does as well. The service, from initial phone call to checking out was helpful and friendly. The Inn is welcoming in appearance and decorated in a historical but updated fashion. Our room was really comfortable, with a queen sized four poster, exposed stone walls, and and on trend bathroom with a soaking tub. There was a wine and cheese social in the evening with local wines and local cheese, nice touch. Breakfast was a nice spread with tasty homemade hot and cold items but a curiously cumbersome short buffet area that made you feel uncomfortable standing in line - like you'd be rushing the folks trying to make their way through the food. I do wish they'd closed the door to the kitchen so we didn't have to hear the clashing of dishes and water, but that's a small peeve. All in all, well deserving of a "very good" rating, and well worth the short drive up from Chicagoland.

You owe yourself a trip to Cedarburg Wisconsin just to enjoy this fine hotel! They have updated a stately old building with all the features you need! The location is right in the middle of town and you can walk to the fine Cedarburg stores and restaurants. Great extra touch like the wine and cheese offered in the evening and a fine breakfast with all the right foods! Our room was on the small side but had a large shower area. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient! We will be back!

One small thing >> there were loose boards on the entry porch from the parking lot.

Room Tip: Lots of morning sun on the street side rooms Try the backside if you want to sleep longer

My wife and I spent a Friday night at this establishment and we were very impressed with the accomadations. The inn has the feel of a bed & breakfast and a hotel. The room we were in had the most comfortable bed the I have ever slept in and an in room jacuzzi that was awesome.
The location is central to numerous attractions since it is right down town and is right next to the Rivoli Theater which was nice and very inexpensive to see a recently (within the last year) released movie.
Overall we would stay here again!
