“Nice Weekend”
Reviewed September 6, 2011

We spent a friday and saturday night in Cedarburg and went to the close by town of Port Washington. There were no check in problems, and they had the roll-a-way bed I requested in the room. The room overlooked main street, though small I thought it was a nice room. The bed was AWESOME! I've never slept so good. We didn't hear any traffic, as others had mentioned, though we did have the room fan on high so that could've been the reason. We had a nice t.v. and a good channel selection. I could've stayed in the shower for hours, though getting in and out of the HIGH bathtub was a problem for myself, as well as my parents who are seniors and were in another room.

We enjoyed the wine and cheese happy hour, it gave us a chance to try many of the local wines. The breakfasts were good, though I would've prefer a hot mean (bacon/sausage) and perhaps a few more items. All of the hotel staff was very friendly!

Room Tip: We found the website which has pictures of each room along with prices to be very helpful.

My wife used to have business in Cedarburg, and we have many great memories of outstanding stays at this lovely grand dame. But it had been nearly ten years since our last visit until we returned to town for a wedding this past labor day weekend. Happy to report, the familiar high standards have been lovingly and meticulously maintained. It was as if we'd never left. The only difference being that a few modern touches have been added to keep up with today's traveler needs (wi-fi and high-def TV, for example).

This is a restored 19th century in loaded with charm and with no two rooms alike...but all boast comfy bedding and high quality bedding Staff is cheerful, helpful, and professional. I would describe the included breakfast as "expanded continental" with one or two hot items and usually including some home-made items. Also included is an afternoon social hour with local wine, cheese and crackers, and something home made from Kate and her kitchen staff. (If you like her daily specials, she'll give you the recipe).

Another plus is the location and atmosphere. The former is in the heart of downtown Cedarburg, a picture-postcard setting and within walking distance of numerous shops, gallieries, restaurants, and pubs. The atmosphere of the hotel and surroundings is pure laid-back small town charm..which makes for a great place to unwind for a day or several days of calm relaxation.

Room Tip: All rooms are different. Ask questions and be clear about your preferences when making your reserva...

My Grandparents first discovered the Washington House Inn years ago and over the years the getaway has now been passed down. We stayed in the John Roth Rm last time and loved it. Very spacious with exposed brick, stone and beams in the ceiling. This last weekend we saved a little money and stayed in 213. One of their "standard" $145 a night rooms. It was very charming with the beams and stone, still had the jacuzzi, but a little on the small side. We were also up there this time with two other couples so we didn't plan on spending as much time relaxing on the room. I don't think there is a bad room in the place. But defintely two types. Check out the awesome website when selecting a rm. We actually got to walk through a lot of the rooms before we checked out because they were all being cleaned on Sunday. Every room is different so we have our next room staked out!

The breakfast is great! Very relaxing and a wide variety. The entire staff is very kind.

Shopping is fun but the winery and brewery were are favorites.

Room Tip: Check out the website. $250 here gives you everything you'll want.

We stayed two nights and found all of the accomodations beyond our expectations. From the incredibly comfortable beds - with the wonderfully cozy sheets, to the freshly made breakfast that includes home-made scones, muffings, etc, fresh fruit, juices, cereal, breads, to friendly attentive staff, and the charming Happy Hour every evening, this stay was one of the best we've ever experienced. It is centrally located in the charming town of Cedarburg which boasts everything from 5 start restaraunts (The Farmstead, for example) to unique shopping, wineries, to friendly neighborhood taverns that served everything from Mexican food to hot dogs. And you can end your evening in the spa that has a large, well equiped shower area right across the hall. I highly recommend the Washington House and will stay there everytime I am in the area.

This was our first time at this B&B and enjoyed our stay very much. The room (#202) was well-appointed with a view of the street. The windows have shutters so if you like your room dark in the morning this might be an issue. We liked the light and the view and didn't mind a little street noise. We both slept well. The two queen size beds were comfortable with very soft sheets. The jacuzzi tub/shower might be difficult for some people to navigate due to the high tub walls, but we didn't have any problem with it. The breakfasts were excellent with many varieties of cereal, bread, bakery, and eggs each morning. The wine and cheese social hour was also enjoyable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We can't wait to stay here again!

We have stayed at the Washington House several times over the past 10 years. Each time we encounter wonderful people, great staff, take time to shop in the ever changing town of Cedarburg, and try new and different restaurants.

The Inn now provides a hot entree, since they are now members of the Select Registry, the breakfasts have been kicked up a notch. They were good before - now even better.

This time we stayed 2 nights, met a nice couple from Iowa, went to dinner at the Anvil, saw fireworks provided by the city, and found a new pizza place south of town, a franchise of Tomasso's.

Just a wonderful trip.

Room Tip: Get a room OFF the main street - sometimes the trucks are noisy at 5AM! Off the main street there i...

Been coming here for 24 years. Have seen many changes in town, but one thing that is always it's same great self is this inn. Nice to see familiar faces and staff is always willing to help you have a pleasant visit in Cedarburg. We went to Door County for a few days and decided to not rush home and stay a night here. This time we stayed in the Schroeder House next door to the main inn. We stayed in Room 1 which is in the back of the house and has a lovely little sunporch. Certainly enjoyed reading the morning paper in that comfy little porch. Rooms are beautiful and always immaculate. Like all the touches they continue to add to the service and quality of the inn. Beds are oh so comfortable that one hesitates in getting up in the morning. But you don't want to miss the expanded continental breakfast with some of the best homemade breads and rolls.
Wine and cheese in the evening is the perfect way to relax prior to going out for dinner. Staff is always willing to make reservations as well as recommendations for you.
Have already booked two more visits in the future to the Washington House Inn.
