Outstanding beer selection between the taps and bottle collection. They had a personal favorite, Black Butte Porter, on tap. The food is served very attractively and in smallish portions. Actually a good thing since overheating in restaurants here can be a common theme. The prices are a little higher than average and might be an impediment for some. Getting fries with several entrees is an extra charge for most entrees and some may balk at that. Friendly wait staff and the owners were greeting a number of people.

We have returned to this small wonderful town for another month this summer and just found this new (was not here a year ago) restaurant. It was packed on a Friday night,,,always a good sign. They advertise themselves as a craft beer and wine bar with small plates for food. So, if you are looking for the typical Wisconsin restaurant serving you will be disappointed. However, this place has lots of wines by the glass and even more beers to choose from. They even offer beer flights.

We had the Stilt burger and the Tenderloin steak sandwich and both were very good, well prepared and we both loved the ale flavor on the sauteed onions which were served on both our sandwiches. We also ordered a side of fried potatoes. They were just OK...typical frozen potatoes thrown in a fryer but served very nicely.

We are here for another month and we will be back!

We had lunch at The Stilt House and found it okay. Just okay.

Apparently its fairly new, and the concept for this area, a Gastro Bar is a great idea. But there's a difference in being really different, a Gastro Bar, and being an okay overpriced place for a meal. I found it to be the latter.

Our timing was good and we were seated right away, and the folks who came in later were waiting for seats. Unfortunately our seats were not good. We had a high table across the short aisle from the bar and kind of in the middle of the restaurant. The hostess was excellent and advised the server would be by shortly, but it took a while before she approached. We ordered highly priced drinks; two beer at $6 each, one at $6.50, and a glass of pinot noir at $8.50. The wine price was not too high, but it was not too good either. The beer prices are way too high.

The the server didn't come back for a long time. It seemed they were somewhat understaffed because she was not timely and the absences when we needed her were obvious.

We ordered two apps that tasted good but were small servings for the $5.95 and $6.50 prices. The actual meal prices were high to in line with market; a burger for $10, but the fries were an additional $3, high; a smaller salad with added chicken, $12, high; a bowl of chili, $5, reasonable; a steak sandwich, $10 with no side, a little high. They clearly want to call themselves an upscale shop where higher quality garners a higher price tag, but frankly, for what we received, the prices were too high. Really it may seem cheap, but a dollar or two on every item, and for items that only met or almost met expectations, is an overcharge. Call it a Gastro Bar and blow my mind and I'll pay; say you are special and demonstrate you are average and I'll only go once.

The ambiance was not good either. It was loud in there. Really loud. To the point that we had a conversation regarding how incredible loud it was.

The really cool thing about The Stilt House was that fabulous ceiling, it was done in copper which was really nice.

The Stilt House was definitely an okay place for an overpriced meal. The meal was not bad; not stellar, but not bad.

I had the chili, tenderloin sliders and french fries. All options are alacarte. The french fries were just average and not worth the extra money. The sliders were excellent, but a little pricey at $13. The chili was also good, but very expensive at $6, and the size was just average. I think that it is nice to visit once for the atmosphere and nice beer selection, but too expensive to go often. Our bill for 2 people was $45 at lunch before the tip.

The waitress was all over us at first and then disappeared. It looked like each server had no more than 2 tables each, but food wasn't coming out of the kitchen. Flavor profiles were off... Stuffed portobello was wet, stuffed jalapeños weren't prepared correctly as prosciutto was chewy, grilled romaine salad was missing the bacon and the summer salad tasted so bad I couldn't eat any of it, the dressing didn't fit the salad. This was our 3rd try and will be our last.
