Though the wait can be long, the food is excellent. My brother said it was the best steak in the world and I was'nt disappointed! No reservations makes it tough to plan but you won't be disappointed with the food. Give it a try. It'll be the best steak you ever had..

I went to the Farmstead a couple of months ago and was thoroughly disappointed. After waiting at the bar for a half an hour on a week night, we finally got a table in the dimly lit back room. The seats were wooden hardbacked and not at all comfortable.

I got an appetizer that consisted of a piece of steak, a piece of garlic bread and a slice of pickle, four little bite sized pieces. First of all it wasn't worth the price in any way. The steak was chewy and rough and the bread which was supposed to be toasted was soggy.

If you like variety, do not go here; there is only one side of one menu for everything. Service was okay. Not worth price.

The Farmstead is a warm friendly restaurant that is nestled away, way back from Hwy 57 in Cedarburg, WI. Drive slow and look for the sign or you might miss it. And believe me; you don't want to miss this place!

The charming, historic, well kept farm house will impress you before you even get out of the car. When you walk in you will feel you entered into “Old World Wisconsin”. Don't be surprised if you don't get greeted right away. The hosts are rather casual and spend a lot of time chatting with patrons and making them feel welcome. Once you are greeted you feel like one of the regulars.

Some critics start with starters, "hors dourest". The best place to start with the Farmstead is the bar. Try the delicious mixed drinks (I suggest a Korbel Ole Fashioned Sweet if you want to do it up like me and most Wisconsinites), anything from the array of beers, or one of the excellent wine selections. Any of these options will be quite enjoyable. With a restaurant as popular as this you can expect a wait, especially if you arrive at the wrong time (after six that is). Nothing to fret. Just relax at the bar and order their "Farm bites" (steak on toast points with pickles, mmm mmm, nummy!) or nachos that will knock your calcetines off. (Spanish for “socks”)

Main course. Well, not any way to go wrong here. Try the "Four Seasons". Aged Black Angus with garlic butter and smothered with sautéed mushrooms, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Steak fries go perfectly. Thin, prepared perfectly every time, simply delicious. Here's a tip: Ask for an extra plate to remove some of the delicious veggies to get at the steak that you can cut with a fork practically. Mouth watering is not even the right words to describe this treat that kings don't even deserve.

Otherwise the seafood selections, the chicken dishes, or even the sandwiches will be fantastic. I highly recommend the seven layer salad. Be careful! It's habit forming. If you're into soup the French onion is particularly tasty. The Caesar salad is another "can't go wrong" option.

If you say anything other than, "No, thanks. I am stuffed." when coffee and dessert is offered I'd be shocked. Portions are huge. The great wait staff will be glad to wrap anything up for those with an insatiable sweet tooth.

You can't beat the Farmstead of Cedarburg, WI.

My husband and I try to visit the Farmstead at least once a month. We are always prepared to wait due to not having the option of making a reservation. We sit at the bar and enjoy a variety of beers and/or cocktails. The charming atmosphere and great bar staff makes the wait enjoyable! Each and everytime the wait is always worth it. The steaks and chicken are delicious and the homemade fries are such a treat! We haven't explored much of the seafood only because we are 'boring' and why ruin a good thing?

I hope you consider the Farmstead for your next dining experience. Cheers!!!
