“All Around Great”
Reviewed March 4, 2010

We visited the Garmisch Restaurant on a quieter weekend in January. The place was hopping with snowmobilers in the bar area but the restaurant was only moderately packed. We got a great table by the window. Service was attentive, not rushed but our drink and water glasses were never empty. Food was excellent. (I'm not a huge prime rib fan but WOW). My husband enjoyed some of the German grub. Delish. All in all, one of the best places to eat in the region.

“Garmisch restaurant was a wonderful dining experience”
Reviewed September 28, 2009

If you would like to experience going back in time to a real German restaurant this is the place. Wonderful food, atmospher, service and set in a beautiful location on Lake Namakagon. We love to take our friends and relatives that come up north to visit to Garmisches for a great dinning experience. Everyone loves it. You cant stop looking around at all the beautiful things in the old German restaurant. Christmas is expecially beautiful there. Thank you Garmisches :) The Pedersens

“Disappointing”
Reviewed July 6, 2009

We checked into Garmisch Inn for a week, hoping to have fine meals in their dining room. Upon our arrival, we explained to our waitress that the children in our party had peanut/tree nut allergies. She said that "they'd been through this before" and the chef suggested ordering steaks and baked potatoes because he couldn't otherwise accommodate us with anything off of the children's menu. He couldn't even guarantee the hot dog or the cheese sandwich would be nut-free. So my daughter went to the car and the children ate cheese and crackers while we had two poor and one mediocre dinners. I've never before experienced a restaurant that was so obviously uncaring.

The management of Garmisch Inn ought to look into their restaurant food and service as our treatment there will guarantee that we'll never visit Garmisch Inn again.

We remember quite well the evening these guests came into our dining room. They wanted our chef to give them an absolute guarantee that items on the children's menu were nut-free. Most of the items on that menu (fried chicken, fried fish, grilled cheese, burgers, french fries) come into contact with or are directly cooked in fryer oil. Our fryer oil is not certified nut-free, and other menu items previously cooked in this oil may have contained some peanut products, therefore we could not make this guarantee. The children's menu does include a small tenderloin steak that could have been served with a baked potato and salad - but that was not acceptable to the reviewer. Had the reviewer contacted Garmisch prior to arriving in the dining room on a very busy night we would have been more than happy to make some special arrangements so that we could have offered these guests a greater choice of menu items for their children. We are very willing to accommodate special dietary needs of our guests if we are notified in advance so that we can plan accordingly. It's unfortunate that the reviewer did not plan ahead because she will be missing out on a great vacation destination this year and in the years to come.

“Worst service I've ever seen”
Reviewed March 16, 2009

February of 2008; my girlfriend and I arrived at 8 pm or so on a Friday evening. The dining room was about 80% full and emptying as people left after eating. We were shown to our table, and proceeded to wait 10-15 minutes to place our drink order. After another 10 minutes I went to the bar and got drinks myself. It was all downhill from there. We waited for everything, and were mostly ignored all evening. As we left we asked to speak to the manager. She came out from the kitchen, and it happened to be our waitress.

We complained about the lackluster service and she said to us, "We knew you were trouble from the start." We were shocked to be treated so rudely, and started to respond to her comment. She then took a phone call and turned her back to us. We paid and left.

I have never seen service this deliberately rude. Buyer beware!

“Horrible Anniversary Dinner”
Reviewed August 19, 2008

We made reservations for 6:30 for a nice, romantic first year anniversary dinner. We showed up at about 6:20 and the server told us our table had been given away. We were seated about 5 minutes later at a table that was set length-wise, so we were actually seated about 4 feet away from each other. We could barely have a dinner conversation because we were seated so far away from each other and had to talk above all the other customers. We were hoping for a nice romantic dinner, but it was far from that. We ordered a bottle of wine and each ordered a steak (mine with a lobster tail). Our bill came to $130 just for the two of us and we both cleared our plates. The food was okay, the service sucked, and overall it was a waste of $130.
