“nice to see excellent service still exists”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

ambiance is nice. acoustics are good in that you don't hear conversations around you. service was well informed and patient with well timed service when you needed it. our party had calamari, mussels and scallops for appetizers. then, entrees were salmon, halibut and shrimp. all were prepared very well and had good flavors to the particular fish. good choice ! they definitely train their staff and it shows.

“Always a great experience”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

We've been here numerous times with family and friends. Always a strong performer with good service and well prepared entrees. This location never disappoints. And they use OpenTable which is always a preferred way to make reservations. They have this carrot cake that is to die for .. it needs raisins .. but even without raisins it's simply spectacular and enough for 2 people. They have a great wine list too. Highly recommended.

“Fresh fish by the boatload. Species certified.”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Located in the Brookfield Mall, Mitchell's feels like a real fish market you might find somewhere in New England (although a very modern New England). We had salmon on a cedar plank and hoison-glazed yellowfin tuna, but I could have easily chosen the scallops, battered cod or a surf and turf. Vegetables are fresh and plentiful. Staff is helpful and accommodating. A good choice on a Friday night.

“Descent food, inconsistent service”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

This is a very nice facility and attracts a solid business lunch crowd. Unfortunately, the service is very inconsistent. For instance, we stood for several minutes of our busy mid-day just waiting for SOMEONE to pay attention to us at the hostess stand. Even a "hello, I'll be right with you" would have been sufficient, but instead we (dressed in very nice meeting attire) were ignored. Then two hosts basically stumbled over each other / ran into each other to help us. Our waitress was mostly very polite and efficient, but other servers would run you over with their trays and show complete annoyance at your presence if you dared to leave your table to visit the rest room, for instance.

The food was ok - nothing to rave about, but ok. The manager of this restaurant should do some customer-centric service training to get their service level up to a level commensurate with the price of an entre.

“Great service; very good dinner!”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

The manager of this restaurant has done a wonderful job in teaching employees the value of friendly and competent service. We were greeted by a smiley hostess. Our server, was smiley, did not rush us, and even made sure our doggie bag was saved when we left it on the table. If you want a totally pleasant evening of dining, this is the place to go.

The restaurant is attached to the Brookfield Mall. Parking can be an issue at any mall location around dinner time. Valet parking was not available.

We ordered one of their Fall 3-course specials; the shrimp/scallop florentine. My husband got the Caesar salad. The portion was generous, and had anchovies (per request) on top. I got the clam chowder. It was excellent. The cream portion was not too thick; it was very tasty. The clams were a little too chewy, but at least there were plenty of them.

The main course was baked. The shrimp and scallps were very small; at least there were a lot of both. I found some of the veggies in the casserole to be a little stingy and tough. I have eaten here before, and prefer their broiled fish entrees better than the casserole. There was a side of beautiful veggies on the plate; carrots, broccoli, red peppers and green beans. They really dressed up the presentation, and were very good.

We both got the creme brule for dessert. Unlike many restaurants that just bring out a ramikin...this was served with a small side of declicious sliced strawberries and little dallops of whipped cream. This was a great compliment to this dessert.

The cost of our bill was $42 prior to the gratuity (we did not order any beverages), We will visit this restaurant again.
