“always a good meal and great service”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

There are few choices for dining in Baraboo that come close to the pleasant atmosphere and fresh tasting food served with care at the Little Village Cafe. Soups are always good, fresh salads and good specials make visits a pleasure. Friendly and warm staff take good care of all the guests and make you feel welcome the minute you walk in. Superb desserts too!
One improvement might be to add some new items to the menu since it has not altered in years but that makes it reliable for favorites too!

“Best Restaurant in Baraboo for Foodies; Several Vegetarian Options”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

In a big city, Little Village wouldn't be considered a "Foodies" restaurant because although the food is very good, the menu is a bit dated. But in Baraboo, where I live, it's the "Foodiest" restaurant in town. Some of my family's favorites: goat cheese baked with roasted garlic and peppers appetizer; anything jerked; anything blackened; tortellini with mushrooms and spinach in roasted garlic sauce (my vegetarian teenage daughter orders this every time); anything Southwestern with the cumin sauce. I will say that we like things spicy hot, and if you like spicy hot, too, you will find the jerked, blackened, and Southwestern treatments flavorful but not as spicy hot as you might like. The specials are always good. The desserts are divine. Our favorite is the Lemon Poppyseed Poundcake. It doesn't say this on the menu or in the dessert case, but it comes grilled, topped with berries and real whipped cream. Yum! The beer and wine selection is good and we're microbrew snobs (my husband is an award-winning homebrewer). The prices are very reasonable - especially compared to big cities. The atmosphere is casual and cozy and artsy retro. It is a little small, so if you have a group of more than 4, come early or call ahead.

“Excellent date venue, fair food menu...”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

The place feels cozy, blues music in the background, lights down to medium, walls decorated and some vintage seating really lend a great atmosphere to a slightly above average menu. The staff are friendly and courteous, and the cost is well worth what you receive for the Main Courses. The only complaint is with the accompanying appetizers, authentic salsa and chips (read homemade).... Just nitpicking honestly. Overall, a fine establishment.

Thank you for a positive review. I would like to note the salsa is made from scratch. The chips are not. We do not have a fryer. Take care and keep searching out the small independent stores

“Great Food, historical charm, wonderful staff and owner, my all time favorite restaurant.”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

This restaurant has it all. The food is creative with a southwestern flair. Nothing ordinary about this menu. I don't belive they even have a deep fat fryer... The food is so creative and flavorful I have a hard time deciding what to order. The burritos are like nothing you've ever had before. My favorite is the chicken chipolte burrito. The southwestern catfish is great. Their soups are always delicious and creative. They have some wonderful specials. There was a smoked pork tenderloin that melted in your mouth. You'll definately be full, but take a desert to go. There's always some kind of cheese cake and carrot cake in the display case. They have extensive wine and beer as well. The character of the building is very interesting. Original booths, half circle counter seating, interesting archicture ( I believe the building is on the national historical register). The owner, Jim, is frequently there and always seems to have time for a few words. The staff is friendly and clearly enjoys working there. This place is just a joy to go to. It's on the corner of the square in Baraboo.
