“Great Hiking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Getting there is half the fun. No matter which direction you come from you drive through some terrific country side. The west side of the park has the best views of the lake. There is a paved path at lake level which is an easy hike. The climb of the west bluff provides great views and at the top, panoramas of the rolling countryside.

“Beautiful State Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We love to go to Devils Lake, it is a lovely park and a beautiful setting. We do family camping trips there and My Husband and I go alone. It's great to walk around the campground and up over the hill to the Old Chateau and walk along the lake and bluffs. Or just to sit and relax by the water. Always an enjoyable time!!

“Views are amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

I thought the colors were great. We went on a sunny day, and the yellows and reds were out. There are a LOT of pine trees in the area, many more than leaf-type trees, so I think the colors were about as rich as they will be.

We hiked the East Bluff trail, at the recommendation of the rangers. I have arthritis and some trouble with knees, and the trip up was a bit of a challenge, but still do-able with some short rests on the path. And the rests were beautiful - the air is tinged with pine and so very fresh, peaceful. After getting to the top, trails wind all around with views, views, views. We took the woods trail up, and the bluff trail down, for variety. The bluff trail has views at every step, and plenty of rock outcrops to climb on. Very nice hiking.

The "fee" is the $35 annual Wisconsin park pass, good for all state parks. We got this so we could come to the park on multiple days, and we also hike Mirror Lake park.

“What a natural beauty!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Just went for a day while in the area and walked the bluffs, amazing views! We were there in fall and the colors were peaking, so it was beautiful to see that from the top and overlooking the lake.
We will definitely go back for some camping and/or boating!

“disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

Travel Wisconsin brochure that sends out the peak color times said it was 100% so we drove 3 hours and found out it was only about 40% if that. Very disappointed with the colors. We love Devil's Lake, but was really disappointed with that the Travel Wisconsin was wrong.
