“Worth the 97 steps”
Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

The tower was worth the 97 steps and $4. We were able to see the light up close, unlike the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Go to this lighthouse if you want to see the light and a view. It was raining when we went so we couldn't go outside, but the views from the various port holes were neat. The docent Dave was nice and knew his information.

Thanks much for the positive review. Wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your visit. The climb to the top of the light tower is truly a unique experience. Sorry to hear it was raining when you visited...you'll need to come back on a sunny day to take in the full glory of the view from the gallery deck!

“History lesson”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

It's a short walk to the lighthouse on a nice property. The shore is easily accessed through a few paths. The light keeper's house has a lot of information posted throughout giving an inside look at the life of a keeper and his family. Several stories on shipwrecks and other mishaps are also detailed. The only negative was the cost which seemed a little much for a self-guided tour and it cost extra to climb the steps in the actual lighthouse.

Ahoy! Great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the Cana Island Light Station! It is a special place steeped in history. Please know that in addition to covering operating costs, a portion of your admission will go toward a major restoration project planned for the lighthouse and other station buildings.

Reviewed October 8, 2012

Out of the way lighthouse, but as charming as they come. Very scenic. You can now go up to the top of the lighthouse, nice views. If you like lighthouses, you will not be disappointed, make it a point to visit Cana Island Lighthouse.

“Standing Stones”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

A short walk across the land brige takes you to Cana Island north of Bailey's Harbor, WI. The old lighthouse serves as a museum and you can climb the stairs to the top of the light an walk around the exterior for a great view of Door County. What made this an even more memorable excursion was this year, Lake Michigan is at an unusually low level. Behind the lighthouse, the curious can venture out a football field length of the Lake's rocky bed. Many tourist have taken the opportunity to build their own attraction of "Standing Stones". When the waters return to normal levels, who knows how lokg they will remain. All in all, well woth the $6.

We're thrilled that you enjoyed your trek across the rugged stone causeway for a visit to the historic Cana Island Light Station. We too are fascinated by all the effort folks put into their "standing stone" creations. It is just one more great reason to visit Cana Island! Thanks agin, hope to see you again in the not too distant future.
