“Wonderful stay, location, and host”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Let me just start this review by saying that the owner and host, Carol, is delightful! She made sure our every need was taken care of and was always quick to come up with a recommendation. Even though Baileys Harbor is one of the more quiet towns up there, I left feeling we hadn't even scratched the surface! There are plenty of walkable shops and eateries from the Inn, as well as a Sunday farmers market downtown.

We did a lot of biking and running from the front door, it was very convenient to get onto country roads from the inn. We didn't get a chance to try out the kayak that Carol has for guests, but we did grill out two of our nights (nice Weber grill) as well as light up the fire pit that is in back. What a great set up for us - a couple just trying to get away from it all. Hearing the fire crackle as the waves of Lake Michigan crash onto the shore was something I won't soon forget.

Then we were able to retreat up to the 2nd floor suite (which is actually three separate rooms and a bathroom, all tastefully decorated in a nautical theme) and sleep in the next morning in the huge bed! Being able to have breakfast at home was also convenient. The kitchen is efficiently sized but updated and basically has anything you'd need on a week-long trip.

We were there for 4 nights, and can't wait to return again. Thanks for everything, Carol!

Room Tip: We stayed upstairs which was wonderful! Carol mentioned that some people switch between the two suit...

We found the Harbor Inn by chance when looking for a quiet 3-day getaway from the city. It was perfect in every way and far exceeded our expectations. We had the first floor suite which included a garage entrance. The decor was beautiful with just the right touches! The owner Carol, was delightful and made us feel right at home! We especially loved the private backyard and waterview. If you are looking for some quiet time away from the crowded resorts, this is the place! We will be back!

I love this place -- the owner, Carol, has great attention to detail and makes her guests feel like personal friends. The suites overlook the water and feel like you are in a private home. Lovely and well, well worth the price!

Room Tip: I loved the room on the ground floor.

We pulled into an open garage and were greeted by proptly and warmly by Carol. She gave us the tour, made sure we would be comfortable and left us to get settled. Deanne's first words were "this is perfect." The next 3 days proved this to be true.

The suite was luxurious and Carol is the ideal hostess. She has thought of all the little extras that make a person feel at home and provides just the right amount of attention.

I can not imagine staying anywhere else in Door County.

My wife and I stayed at The Harbor Inn, arriving Sunday December 23rd 2012 and departing Wednesday December 26th 2012. Our room was the First Floor Suite (Suite 1) which for late season 2012 ran $130 per day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and $105 per day on Monday through Thursday.

The first thing that one notices upon entering this lovely three-room suite, consisting of bedroom, bathroom, and large living room with kitchenette and dining areas, is the high quality and attention to detail throughout the suite. The large quiet bedroom features a king size bed with wonderfully comfortable mattress, large armoire, triple dresser, and small TV. The bedroom, like the living room, has wood floors with lovely rugs. The unique bathroom has a door to the suite's private deck overlooking the lake. The bathroom has a beautiful tiled walk-in shower, no tub. The living room features a large gas fireplace flanked by large windows overlooking the lake, a comfortable sitting area with sofa and chairs in front of the fireplace, a round dining table with four chairs and lake view, and a gorgeous wall of kitchen cabinetry filled with every kind of implement and supply you could possibly use, including upscale dinnerware and glassware. There is also a full-size wood-paneled refrigerator/freezer and a full-size microwave. Particularly when visiting in winter, one will appreciate the private single-car garage with automatic door opener that comes with the suite, and which provides a private entrance to the suite.

Carol Williams, the Innkeeper, has created a unique oasis for couples to escape the hustle-and-bustle of regular life, and she goes to great lengths to make your stay a special one. While there were no meals included during our stay, you are within walking distance of several restaurants, pubs, and a coffee shop. We were delighted and surprised to encounter accommodations of such exceptional quality and taste, and wholeheartedly recommend this inn to other couples.
