Simply elegant and Amazing! There is none other than can compare. This historical resort is in a league of its own. From the grounds to the hotel down to the staff this resort is unlike no other. The decor is one of a kind! I also stay at the Grand Hotel every year...this was my first to the Greenbrier. No comparison! This is a must - you should visit before you die. Restaurants are very good. Prime 44 West is a must while you are there- please try the lobster mashed potatoes- worth every $. Drapers was another of our favorite..Fried green tomatoe sandwich with homemade ice creams for dessert that are out of this world! Kids loved the swimming pool, bowling alley and laser tag! High Tea is complimentay daily and is a great break in your day- do not miss it! Unlike the Grand Hotel- this resort is all al a carte...even down to the activities..everything is extra! Well worth the experience but this resort will really set you back..so plan accordingly!

Room Tip: Staying in the Hotel is more convenient to getting to everything- activities and dining. Sometimes a...

We recently stayed at this property, and were shocked that it did not receive a five (5) diamond rating from AAA. The difference here is the quality of the people. This list is but a few of the experiences that we had on a recent weekend visit.
1.) Willis was more than patient with us at the gun club atop Kate Mountain, the first time that my wife has shot any type of weapon. See became an expert shooter by the end of a one hour lesson, and loves the sport.
2.) Bob provided me with some helpful hints around the greens at the excellent golf facilities. Bob was a very patient instructor with this hack golfer. In a few years, when I win my first tournament on the Senior Tour, I will mention the Greenbrier.
3.) Thaddeus made delicious and reasonably priced beverage choices at Prime 44. Make sure that you are hungry before this experience – portions are huge. Highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes, 22 oz. Porterhouse, and seafood tower. Sorry Mrs. Justice, but, while your cornbread is good, it has nothing on the bacon rolls.
4.) Carl provided a very nice and safe horse ride through the grounds.
5.) Even Dee and Melissa were friendly as they destroyed guests in a hand or two of Blackjack at the new casino; and
6.) Earl was quite jovial as he picked up our bags from the room. Our last memory as we regretted getting into our car before work the next Monday morning.
In short, do not be afraid to leave your “comfort zone” and try a new activity or two at the Greenbrier. The staff is excellent, with many years of experience, that makes this a fantastic place. I would choose these experiences over a fifth diamond any day.

Have stayed at Greenbrier many times over years, almost entirely for business. There with children for spring break this time and both of them old enough to fully enjoy it. Perfect place for families, where no problem finding and allowing kids to enjoy themselves. Stayed in Paradise Row cabin this time, which worked out perfectly for family, Living room and big bedroom, larger than living room, two TVs and BRs!

Room Tip: They have lots of options. We always want space so kids can spread out and they have it at fairly re...

This casual dining option is great for a quick bite. The menu is quite varied (chicken and waffles?) and the desserts are wonderful. After our burgers we tried to split the banana split. We almost burst. It would have easily fed four. Great place.

My wife and I spent a few days at The Greenbrier in January and had a fantastic stay. The ice skating rink is our favorite winter activity but we thought we were in trouble when the temperatures climbed to a near record 68 degrees. No problem-just take off the sweaters and skate in your short sleeve shirts. So fun. As always, we were treated like royalty but this time the staff outdid themselves. Our bellman sat and talked with us for about 30 minutes (it was a slow day) and told us stories of his past years at this magnificent place. Three days later he caught us in the lobby and opened up a bag of candy he had just purchased for himself at the candy shop and offered us a handful. That is how you make indelible impressions on people. There are so many things to do here, but this trip we just enjoyed doing nothing. But you MUST do the history tour with Dr. Bob Conte. He is a master storyteller and his presentation will enhance your visit. Every time we come to this gem we leave with a big smile on our faces. In any season, The Greenbrier never disappoints. The place is phenomenal but the people make it a combination that we just can't stay away from.

Take the hotel tour! I loved staying there! It was on my bucket list! Great present from my husband to stay there. We really liked the Bunker Tour also. We got a package deal for the room and meals. Way to go!

We spent 3 days at the Greenbrier being spoiled by its accomodations, friendly staff, wonderful spa, and hunt club. The spa is a getway within itself. The spa staff was very pampering. Breakfast is a feast and if you choose the buffet be prepared to not eat the remainder of the day. We were surprised at how much fun we had at the Casino.
