“What's not to like about Later Alligator?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

Great food!
My favorites: Kickin Chicken Wrap, Asian Salad, Last Tango, and the Pulp Fiction.
However, I've tried just about everything on the menu and would order most of it again according to my taste buds:)

Best thing about the food? It's fresh and includes many organic ingredients while still deliciously satisfying. You don't usually have to wait long for it to be prepared, it comes out the way it is suppose to be served every time.

Ambiance? Indoor and Outdoor Seating. Indoor seating includes a window view of Center Market and by passers. Outdoor seating includes a peaceful Courtyard.

Parking-you can park in front of the restaurant or further down the road still within a few steps of walking distance.

Children? Yes. There's room for children. You can even let them watch the cooks preparing the food as there is a window view.

Large parties? Call in advance. Up to 6 seems easy to seat.

Alcohol? Yes. Wine and Beer. Import and Domestic. Nice variety. Oh and Tuesday nights are 1/2 price wine bottle nights.

Other than lunch and dinner, Later Alligator also has an espresso bar available bright and early. I think they serve scones and sometimes muffins but I really appreciate their espresso bar.

Check it out, I don't think you'll be disappointed. It all started with their crepes and has expanded to a wide variety of delicious menu items!

“Terrible service.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

This was my first and will be my last visit to Later Alligator. The service at this restaurant is by far the worst I have ever experienced. The wait staff is inexperienced at best. One particular individual who identified herself as a manager was argumentative and surly. While the food was unique and tasty, beverage refills, silverware, timely and attentive service, correct checks, bar orders and polite knowledgeable servers was not to be found.

“Awesome food in downtown Wheeling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013

Really enjoyed the unique sandwiches at Later Alligator. Our favorite was the King.....grilled peanut butter, banana, and raisin sandwich. The shop is known for their crepes but our family didn't try any of those. We liked this place so much that we stopped twice on our way to and from Washington DC. Prices are reasonable.

“Best in town hands down!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

My girlfriend and I eat here pretty much every week. They offer a unique selection of delicious food and the staff is super friendly. There are many options to choose from, and everything is prepared with fresh ingredients. They also have a pretty good beer and wine selection. We never get tired of this place!

“Little Spot----Big Ideas!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

Later Alligator is a small eclectic restaurant in the Market district area of Wheeling. It is filled with ambiance created with various items from antiques to oddities placed strategically in the carved out eating areas. The usual menu here is crepes, paninis, sandwiches, and salads which are all tasty, fresh and what you want for lunch or dinner. "Gator" is also a great breakfast spot serving everything from coffees and teas to full breakfast meals. But, Thursday nights, the owner, Susan, has created a great themed dinner evening which she advertizes through her website and email list as well as at the door upon entry. She researches foods from various regions of the world and spotlights one each week. I was there for "Hungarian Thursday". The three course meal included a spicy cucumber, dill, and garlic salad in oil and vinegar, sweet paprika goulash for the main course, and dessert was an Hungarian cream-puff filled with ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon creme- a great twist on an old dessert. This was all comfortably priced and served by very sweet girls who worked to make our evening enjoyable. Stop by Later Gator for a breakfast , lunch, or dinner, and you will not be disappointed.
