Our van developed a transmission problem as we were passing through Wheeling WV on our way back home. The mechanic brought us to this hotel to stay in while he worked on it. I was in sticker shock over the price ($114 a night without discounts) - we haven't stay in any hotels for a long time. Once I got over the price and the fact that they didn 't have a pool (!!!)- they are in the middle of renovations to add a pool. The check-in people were very nice. They let me know where there was somewhere for the kids to run and play. There was coffe, tea, hot chocolate, fruit (apples, bananas, and pears), and cookies available for us 24 hrs a day. When we came in the room there was a package of oreo cookies and a bottle of water waiting for us. (wish it was a package of oreos per bed since the kids argued over them! :-) ) They provide the normal shampoo, lotion, soap, but they also provide other items, such as toothbrush/paste, etc. Our room had a fridge and microwave, which was nice since we were not expecting the cost of staying in a hotel and were able to go to the store and buy some less expensive items for meals, rather than go out to eat. In the morning they had a complimentary breakfast of waffles, muffins, toast, bagels, donuts, fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc.
This morning when I explained our situation to the lady at the front desk and asked for a late check out she gave us till 3pm and then said that if we needed more time after 3pm that we were welcome to stay in the lobby area for a while. So nice!
This hotel will really be worth it once the pool is in!

Wheeling doesn't have many hotel choices but this turned out to be the best value/choice for the money. There is a huge baseball tournament held in Wheeling every year and this hotel was convenient to all field locations. When I booked online they clearly stated there was construction going on so there were no surprises. We were in a completely renovated room. Clean, very nice bathroom, furnishings, etc. The rooms are all newly renovated, except for the first floor rooms and lobby, which is the last phase. When they are finished, this will be the nicest hotel in Wheeling.

This hotel is still under construction but there are at least two floors of fully-renovated, brand-new rooms. The room design and finish was excellent, with comfortable beds, large flat-screen TVs, and an attractive closet-desk area -- they are very attractive and comfortable, like something right out of a Hampton Inn brochure.

The public areas -- lobby, checkin, and breakfast area -- are clearly temporary and under construction. The decor is one step above a hard-hat construction zone, although they are clean and neat. However, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and doing the best they can with the common areas during the renovation time. They do not have a fitness center yet, but they offer free passes to a health club about a mile away. BTW, they told us that a new pool area is part of the construction project, so look for that when the renovation is done.

The location is very convenient because it is at the side of the road less than a mile from the interstate. It is far enough away from the highway that you don't hear any road noise, but it is in a pretty nondescript area facing a couple of restaurants and not much more.

Overall, a nice place to stop by for a short stay -- the rooms were terrific and I'm sure the rest of the hotel will be very nice when the construction is done.

We stopped June 29, 2009, for an overnight stay on way back to Illinois. The room we had was freshly painted, new everything! The bathroom was roomy and had new vanity which looked like it had a granite top. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. They had free wifi and a super set up if you wanted to work in your room with extra outlets and a small desk area. It was a nice place to stay and rest after a long day sitting on the bus.

Came through Wheeling on our way to NYC and decided to stop and stay. Room was brand new, still smelled like paint. Still some construction marks where they centered things and the trim was not complete. Heard construction noise the next morning, but not until after 9am. Front desk was most helpful and pleasant.

The top floors have been renovated, even have 40" flat screen TV's and the beds are great. Down side; rooms have not been inspected well as there is poor workmanship and follow up on the details. The first floor, desk area and breakfast area have been severly impacted due to the renovations that are in process.

We went to Wheeling for a Birthday Weekend Getaway. We didn't plan on being in the room much, just needed to shower and sleep. I let them know it was my fiancee's birthday in advance. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. The staff was pleasant and more than helpful. We called the front desk for a nail clipper, they did not have one :( Within minutes an employee knocked on our door and offered his from his personal key ring. We felt like family. The hotel is minutes from the Wheeling Isles Casino, there are restaraunts within walking distance. We had a wonderful time.
