This restaurant, located beyond reasonable walking distance from the village in winter, tries and fails to host an upscale dining experience. Although the menu offerings and price point reflect what should be a higher standard of fare, service and the kitchen were disappointing.
Service staff was not well trained for this level of dining. This lack of professionalism permeated the entire experience. Entrees were mediocre although creative in intent; portions in some cases clearly not adequate (quail and scallops), presentation uninspiring, and taste lacking uniformly across our table of four. The two beef entrees (NY and filet) were accompanied by perhaps the worst rendition of a baked potato I have ever experienced in any setting along with three emaciated grilled asparagus stocks.
Mitigating, we were “early week” customers and perhaps because of personnel rotation after a busy weekend it may have been an “off night.” That being said, at this price point one should expect consistency regardless of timing.
I would urge caution in expecting anything but the most ordinary experience at a relatively significant cost.
