“NOT YELLOW,NOT A BANK, BUT REALLY GOOD”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

Gourmet food at reasonable price in a real old fashioned bank. Here you can eat where Nancy Reagan ate with John Buccanan on a trip from Camp David. Save room for dessert. The blueberry, rhubarb cobbler was fantastic. Ask for a tour of the wine storage which is located inside the old bamk's vault.

I am so glad you tried the cobbler/parfait. We have been getting rave reviews on this dessert no matter what fruit we use. I think the secret ingredient to pleasing everyone's palate is the house made honey granola with pistachios. The home made whipped cream stirs the taste buds as well, with Bloomery Plantation Distillery's Limoncello and Raspberry Limoncello foolded in.

The Bloomery Plantation distillery is located in Charles Town, West Virginia just a few miles from the Yellow Brick Bank. Stop to see, taste and experience thier history, product and hospitality on a Friday or Saturday...You'll be glad you did! bloomeryplantation.com

“You Can Bank On It”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

The Yellow Brick Bank is a Shepherdstown mainstay. The restaurant occupies a renovated bank and much of the original interior has been maintained. The staff is friendly and professional and the menu is varied, and many of the ingredients used to prepare the menu items are from local farms. The wine list is above average and reasonably priced. The Bank also has a happy hour Monday through Friday.

The YBB is definitely a mainstay of Shepherdstown. It has been in operation since 1976 when it moved into the former home of Jefferson Security Bank built in 1906. Much is the same, but we are constantly working to keep it fresh and interesting.

We like to think that we are good at what we do, specifically, the staff, food and service as you noted. Laird Marshall, our manager, has a passion for wine which makes us very fortunate to have management skills and wine knowledge all rolled up in one talented person.

We thank you for your comments and hope that you will visit us again soon.

“yellow brick bank”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Great restaurant. Had all the specials for the day (New England Clam Chowder and Pancetta wrapped Sea Scallops topped with Crab Imperial), and they were all excellently prepared and seasoned "just right". Service was excellent; my server (Brie) was very attentive, helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. Really nice dinner, followed by a decadently rich dessert and Port wine.

So glad that you enjoyed all of the specials. It makes my mouth water just reaading about them as they were some of my personal favorites so far this fall. I will make sure the chef knows how pleased you were with the preparation and seasoning and to tell Brie what a great job she did with your service. Thank you for the feedback...it's what we love to hear!

“A Nice Place”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We went here based on a writeup of the history of the restaurant. There is a good variety of dishes. We thought that it was a bit overpriced for what was offered. The service was good, but we felt rushed. It is worth a try.

I am glad that the history of the Yellow Brick Bank intrigued you to visit our beautiful building and experience the broad variety of items on our menu. We are sorry, though, that you felt our prices were a bit high, as we like to think they are competitive with other fine dining offerings around us.

We take great pride in encouraging our diners to linger as long as they like and feel badly that you were made to feel rushed...it was certainly not our intention. We often have diners stay long after finishing their meal to find they have the dining room all to themselves while visiting over after dinner drinks and catching up on conversation.

We hope you will visit again soon,
