“Good for a quick bite!”
Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

We were starving and the premise tex-mex chicken sandwich in the food case looked good. The sandwich was very good. The tiny paper plate they gave us was smaller than the sandwich, it's great for a quick bite or a takeout.

“Having a cupcake on Main Street can't be beat!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

We visit Shepherdstown every year and first thing we walk down to the Sweet Shop for cupcakes and enjoy them at a table outside while watching the passing scene. Not many towns where you can do that, so that makes us enjoy it all the more. Cupcakes range from ok to excellent, I recommend the chocolatey ones! Bread is very good and the jam they sell is superlative, we always take a supply home with us.

“Great bakery”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

My husband and I came across this bakery as we strolled around Shepherdstown following dinner at the Blue Moon Cafe. (The cafe gets its desserts from this bakery.) We decided to skip the Comfort Inn's breakfast the next morning, and go to the Sweet Shop instead. We each had a savory pastry, shared a bottle of OJ, and bought a dessert to go, all for under $15. Everything we ate was very fresh and yummy.

“Wasn't our day for fresh”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

I read the reviews on this place after we visited. We must have hit a "sell all the day old stuff" day. We ordered two kinds of donuts, an eclair and a big sugar cookie. All were stale and tasted at least a day old. It's a cute shop and you can probably eat tasty fresh bakery items. Just wasn't our day for fresh.

“Simple, pretty, and delicious wedding cake!”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Shepherdstown Sweet Shop made a beautiful two-tiered cake for my wedding, and it was one of the best cakes I've ever tasted! A few months before the wedding, we had a meeting with Pam to taste flavors and look at pictures of cake styles and designs--she was friendly, accommodating, and very attentive.

We went with larger bottom layer of lemon with lemon curd filling and a smaller top layer of almond cake with raspberry filling. The whole thing was covered in cream cheese frosting and decorated with delicate little frosting details--simple but so pretty! The flavors were so fantastic that some guests who'd tried one layer went back to try the other. The cake was moist and flavorful; the frosting was melt-in-your-mouth delicious; and the fillings added just the right touch of uniqueness. I can't wait to order a mini anniversary cake next year!
