I have stayed here on business on a few occasions. The rooms are exemplary, the service is great, the food is wonderful, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the scenery is gorgeous. I have not really used many of the amenities such as gold course, spa, etc. so can't cooment on those, but I really enjoy this place.

We travel with friends, four or five couples, and rented cabins for our last stay at the Stonewall Resort. The cabins are right on the lake and well equipped. Our next visit was a stay right in the lodge, since the restaurants are fabulous and reasonable and we just decided to eat there the second time instead of cooking for ourselves in the cabins.
I loved the heated pool that goes from in side to outside and my husband, the golfer, is a impressed with the well designed and scenic golf course. You can use their bikes, kayaks, go on a boat cruise for free, hike on trails or just relax and use the spa so there is lots to do as you enjoy the spectacular West Virginia beauty.

Room Tip: They allow well behaved pets in the lodge rooms but not in the cabins. All rooms are well placed bu...

This resort is located 45 miles from our home so it's an easy day trip for my wife and I. Just about everything you could ask for is available. A chanpionship golf course, great lodge, first class dinning, boating, fishing, biking, great pool and walking trails. Wildlife viewing is incrediable, with whitetail deer, wild turkey, etc. are all visible. The lodge is beautiful and the rooms are great. We enjoy riding our Harley to the lodge, haveinf dinner and enjoy the facility..... If you get a chance visit this West Virginia State Park you won'd be disappointed............

I'm 46 and spent the last weekend in April enjoying Stonewall resort with my wife and 21 year old daughter. The resort is on a Lake in the mountains of West Virginia where a premium is placed on natural beauty and outdoor activities. It is only a few minutes from the interstate and easily accessible. The golf course was immaculate and the people were friendly and genuinely concerned about our needs. They made us feel like their personal guests. We enjoyed hiking and took advantage of the complimentary bikes, driving range, fishing, kayaking and conoeing. It rained on the second day and although Stonewall is, in my opinion, geared largely to outdoor activities, we enjoyed the fitness center, recreation center and spa. The food was very good, and our rooms were very clean. I was impressed with the over-all value of the resort and will return if for no other reason than the therapeutic value of drinking a glass of wine in an Adarondack chair overlooking the lake. I read another review which indicated that the resort is geared to seniors. I disagree, particularly considering the number of small children we saw, the playgrounds, kid's activity room, game room and the college sorroity holding their formal at the resort the weekendwe were there. I'm a photography buff (see below) and just wish I'd been their earlier in the month for the full Spring bloom. I visited Stonewall in the fall a few years ago and the colors were spectacular.

Room Tip: 3/4 of the rooms face the lake (the Lodge is on a penninsula). Try to get a second floor room for a...

Stay night at the Stonewall Resort on my way through West Virginia. I was travelling with my 8 year old son and thought there might be something for him to do there. When we arrived it was raining and all activities had been cancelled. Even the pool was closed. Please be advised that you will be charged a resort fee of $15 added to your room bill even if not a single activity is available. Room was moldy and need to be aired out. Size of room and comfort of room is fine but for mold smell. Food in restaurants is poor-breakfast buffet horrible- unless you are from WVA and like Cracker Barrel.
This hotel is clearly geared for seniors. Vast majority of guests were seniors. I noticed the pool had three "lifts" to help seniors or handicapped get in and out of pool.

My mother-senior- recommended staying here while travelling through WVA. I felt like I was visiting a senior living fascility but I get why seniors might enjoy the hotel as it is clearly geared for them. If you are driving though WVA with a child keep going and avoid as hotel is over-priced and not worth the stop.

Room Tip: Elevator is very noisy so get a room away from them.

Stayed here for a business trip in fall, so not all outdoor activities were available at that time. However, the indoor/outdoor pool was heated and the trees surrounding the lake looked beautiful. The rooms were very nice and updated. The meeting areas and on-site dining areas were also very nice. All staff were polite and helpful. Not many nearby activities, but a group of us toured the Allegheny Lunatic Asylum which is something you can't pass up. Would enjoy staying here again.

Stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the time. After a rough check in-miscommunication on both sides, we ended up with a great room and good feeling about the service. The front desk associate and MOD were more than supportive in working out a solution and went above and beyond to get us settled after a long travel day. Very comfortable bar with fireplace and super servers/bartenders. Nice bar menu. Restaurant sort of limited menu but also accommodated by letting us combine the lounge menu with the dinner restaurant. It was cold for the time period but the fires were going and the views were great. We saw the cottages on the lake and also the marina-must be beautiful in the summer and fall. Also if you are a golfer, looks like a nice course with beautiful climb house.
Nothing! Close for quick grocery runs but there is a huge shopping area about 30 min a away-every venue you may need! Stonewall Jackson Camp (supported by WVU) close by and the Appalacian Glass Blowing store in Weston worth seeing!
