A must see. The house tour was amazing. All in all, a wonderful experience. Would go back again if I were in the area. Don't miss this trip.

My husband and I recently visited Blennerhasset Island for the purpose of touring the Blennerhasset Mansion. We thoroughly enjoyed the paddle-wheeled boat ride from Parkersburg, WV and all of the anecdotes and historical facts shared by the boat's captain. The mansion tour is led by volunteers dressed in early 19th century period dress and all of them were passionate about their segments of the tour--each guide had extensive knowledge of the Blennerhasset family and the artifacts on display. The wagon ride of the island gives visitors a deeper knowledge of this beautiful island in the Ohio River. I strongly disagree with the reviewer who suggested that the island be modernized with the usual modern tourist traps! The island is one of the few historical sites uncluttered with modern commercialism.

Not enough to do on the island, and I believe the State of Wv is missing a great opportunity to use the vast land for developemnt of things that could attract tourists to the island, i'e. amusement park, family restaurant, hotel, casino, etc.

It was a good tour around the island. We ate, then went on a wagon ride and learned some of the history. then we had a guided tour of the house with more history. And a boat ride to and from. We had alot of fun

This was an interesting day trip for us from Pittsburgh. The museum and paddle wheeler are located near the river in Parkersburg, W.Va. We enjoyed the leisurely cruise on the paddlewheeler and the sights on the island. The Blennerhassett House tour was very informative and the docents conveyed a lot of history of a period around 1800. Also being dressed in period costumes added to the ambiance. The house was very nice especially in comparison to what existed in the 1800's. The paddle wheeler leaves on the hour from Parkersburg and returns from the island on every half hour.
