Went to ACE for rafting and zip lining over spring break. The staff and guides were great. This early in the year we almost had the place to ourselves. Although the cabins were convienent, they were not worth the money. They really need an upgrade and for the money, should provide daily service.

If you want a camping experience, ACE may be fine. You are DEEP in West Virginia and if you have Sprint, you will not get cell coverage.

My friends & I went with Ace for Bridge Day weekend. We did the New River for Bridge Day and the Upper Gauley on Sunday. Wow, what a ride! Eric S. & Chris C. were excellent guides!

We camped on Ace's property because by the time we decided on which weekend to go, all the chalets & cabins were full. We were expecting that and wanted to camp anyway. It was indeed a bit rowdy in the campground this weekend, but it's a big festival weekend. What can you do? Bring earplugs if you want to get to sleep early.

The showerhouse up by the Blackberry campsites is great. Private rooms for the ladies (unisex actually) and a communal room for the men. Never a want for hot water.

We didn't use a meal plan, but did go to the pig roast on Saturday night. It was not bad, not amazing, but it was filling. The lunches on the river trips were great, but that's probably due to working up a serious appetite. Chicken, burgers, veggie burgers and a few tuna steaks like was mentioned before, but so good after being in the water. Hot chocolate & patio heaters were definitely appreciated at Sweet's Falls!

I had only been rafting once before this weekend, and was admittedly a little nervous about the Gauley, but I'm also a little bit of an adrenaline junky. Once we got in the water and got going, all nervousness evaporated. It is so much fun. I would recommend however if you aren't that active or haven't rafted in a while to warm up on the New or even the lower Gauley before you do the Upper Gauley. We are already making plans to come back next year. Can't wait!

From initial booking formalities to check out, the staff and guides were professional and friendly. My wife and I rented one of the two bedroom log cabins and found them to be clean and comfortable for 2 adults or two adults and up to 3 teen or younger kids. Four of more adults may be a bit croweded unless you are all really close. The hot tub and roofed deck was wonderful after a day's activity. The buffet breakfast and dinners offered a good selection and were of good quality. Our activities during our 5 night stay included rafting the lower Galey, zip lining, rock climbing and horse back riding. All activities started on time and were conducted efficiently, professionally and not without humor by the well trained guides. We plan on returning next year with our grand kids ages 8 and 12. A great out door adventure vacation.

My family and I have rafted with ACE for 20 years. We have been with all of the other companies but return to and prefer ACE. I have read some of the reviews and have no earthly idea where some of these negative people come from but for those who from OHIO who talked bad about WV and ACE - I have been to your state - You have NOTHING there that even comes remotely close to ACE or WV. We raft the New River on Bridge Day every year and greatly enjoy the Pig Roast afterwards. The camping sometimes gets rowdy but during high tourist events like the Gauley Season that is to be expected. By all means notify ACE and the security - they always make it right!!. I recommend the cabins quite highly. As a family (military family) we travel frequently and to many diverse locations. ACE is in the top of all US and International locations we have visited. If you come for the exciting, active party atmosphere during Gauley Season and especially Bridge Day then the camping is for you. Keep in mind that many people come from all over the world to raft, kayak, and jump - it will be loud and active. There are hotels nearby but I warn you this time of the year is HIGH TIME!! Every place will be full and loud. The cabins, booked early, are your best bet. The hot tubs are great in the evening and the Lost Paddle Bar is fun and relaxing.
If your looking for luxury and spa style relaxation DON'T come!! This is a place for outdoors people who are active. If you are adventurous, enjoy beauty and the great outdoors WE WELCOME YOU TO COME TO OUR STATE AND ENJOY THE BEST - ACE.
ACE provides something for everybody at every age. Those who have complained about the food - I have no idea where you are eating but the breakfast and dinner buffett's are excellent. The pig roast is my absolute favorite. Be sure to include your meals when booking.
FYI - All Military - ASK FOR THE MILITARY DISCOUNT they are great supporters of the military and we appreciate it.

My husband and two kids - son (14) and daughter (12) decided to go to ACE for white water rafting on the Lower New and Zip LIne Canopy tour. We rented one of the cabin tents. The package we got included the meal plan - 2 breakfasts and one lunch and one dinner.

The lake was great. Lots of inflatables. A zip line into the lake and a long slide. I would recommend padding the metal bar above the slide as it is easy to hit your head. We kayaked and played our first afternoon. Lots of fun.

Our camp site had a ring of rocks for a fire (we had to search from more rocks from neighboring vacant sites) a picnic table. Two double beds that had linens and sleeping bags. It was clean. Smelt of bleach, but that was okay. Better than mold.

We brought a covered canopy to go around the picnic table which was great. The bugs weren't bad, but we were glad to have it.

Rafting was great. Jen, our guide was great and looked out for our daughter. She kept us safe but gave us a great adventure. You take a bus to where you launch and help carry your raft down to the river. We rafted all day. Lunch was provided on the river. It was the best meal we had there. A hot lunch with chicken, burgers, veggie burgers, even a couple of tuna steaks. The beers and sodas when we were done were a nice finish. Best cold beer ever...

They have a video guy that follows your group and shoots great video. Peyton did our video, funny guy. Total cost was $58, but it has been great to relive the experience with everyone on our TV.

The next day we did the Zip Line Canopy tour. It was fun. I am glad to check it off my list. Josh, was terrific as were the other two guides. I would recommend you be prepared to do walking, good hiking shoes. I had wished the other zips had been finished, but was happy with the zips they had.

If the meals had been better, it would have been a perfect vacation. I said it was cafeteria food, but my 14 year old said his cafeteria serves better food. There is buffet for breakfast and dinner. Lunch was at the window and you just get a burger or something on that menu with chips and a glass of soda.

This was our 6th camping/whitewater trip at ACE. We love it, that's why we keep coming back! The guides on the river are always great! Every year there is always some "improvement" like the new inflatables at the lake. We always camp at one of the RV spots but we have stayed "mountaintop" before. The bathrooms up there are much better than where we usually stay. We always go with a group of family and friends, ages ranging from 3 to 60, and everyone always has a great time.
This past trip there were a few annoyances--loud campers pretty close by, no posted hours in the store to pick up rafting pictures--but it was another great vacation and we will definately go back again--wouldn't even consider another spot or company to book our vacation with.

We came camping to Ace Lake solely for the lake inflatables. My teenagers LOVED it. The only problem we had was that they do not let pets in for the campers. BUMMER!. As campers we always take our 2 dogs. Does anyone know of a place like this (we are not interested in rafting, only the lake with all the inflatables0. We would go there again, but the no pet policy is going to keep us away. Any suggestions on where to camp with the teens to keep them occupied.
