Taking the boys and the dog to a West Virginia-swimhole-weekend turned out to a great idea, only the cabin we rented at Yokum's Vacationland was just unacceptable, smelly, dirty lines, not at all what I had expected for $130/night. There the trouble started with finding an alternative ... we had to go back all the way to Winchester, MD, to find a Holiday Inn which would allow us to bring the pet. Returning to the Potomac Highlands we didn't expect to find another place when we reached Mt. Storm and I remembered a recommendation for the Cottage Inn Motel. The motel turned out to be a 5-rooms-motel in the backyard of a friendly family. The whole place
is not new or fancy but the owner tried to updated all important parts (like shower heads, linens, mini-fridge etc) and everything was
very clean and non-smelly. Our dog could only be accepted after a little while and some sceptical glances on the fox terrier as the owner made bad experiences with dogs before and isn't keen on taking them in.
We had a great stay in Mt. Storm thanks to the Parade at this day and the surroundings like the headed lake only 5 miles away or the evening at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas. A good website about the Potomac Highlands is [----] who recommended the motel.
We are defintely going back to WV this year!
