“middle of the road”
Reviewed June 30, 2008

several years ago, i went to cafe bacchus on a fairly regular basis and enjoyed it immensely, great atmosphere, great wine and food. the past three times i was there in the past year or so were unfortunately disappointing. the very last time, we waited around an hour for entrees. it was dinnertime, on a sunday, and not that busy. i was there with one friend...so a party of two. i finally went to find the server (who seemed to be avoiding us), and about 10-15 minutes later she arrived with the food. the entire meal was pretty average and quite expensive.

“Unique Menu in Morgantown”
Reviewed June 28, 2008

Menu had Seafood and Sausage Jambalaya Filet Mignon, and curry entrees. Those were the three choices in out group and all were excellent. Owner came out and spoke with us for 10 minutes and helped us learn more about Morgantown. Could not recommend this more strongly.

“Excellent food and wine selection”
Reviewed June 6, 2008

Was quite impressed by this restaurant: All the dishes we ordered were excellent: Salads, crab cakes, lamb, pork, pasta. Very interesting choice of vegetables; the bread was very good too (always a good indicator of things to follow...). Finally, a very decent wine list... we picked a syrah from Napa Valley which was very enjoyable. All in all, a very good meal, albeit a little pricey, but worth it for the quality of the ingredients and cooking. I would definitely go back.

“Not open Sunday or Monday”
Reviewed February 4, 2008

We were in Morgantown for a couple days and had looked forward to going to Cafe Bacchus based upon the reviews we read here, but were disappointed to find that they are not open on Sunday or Monday, something that I couldn't find on the internet and, in fact, found at least one write-up that said they were open every day of the week.

“They Go Far and Beyond”
Reviewed August 12, 2007

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I suggested to our group of 6 that we go to the Cafe Bacchus - What a great decision!

The food was excellent! Everything from the appetizers to the bread to the entree was very well prepared. The ambience of the restaurant is intimate and classy, as it is housed in an older Victorian style home. Our group was placed in a side room, which we pretty much had to ourselves. It was dimly lit and quite cozy.

Beyond the food itself, the service was grand. Before we even got to the restaurant, we were expecting the service to be great. We were having a bit of trouble finding the location, but we called for directions. Judy, one of the co-owners, talked us through the streets of Morgantown to lead us to the restaurant, and as we where approaching the place, she was out on the sidewalk waving us down. I've never had that kind of service before. Thanks Judy!

I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an exceptional fine-dining experience while in Morgantown.
