This restaurant/diner has been around for over 40 years and no wonder.....they do it right. Counter service, booths and tables with a rustic ambience are what you can expect. The breakfast choices we made were perfect....scrambled eggs with texas toast and coffee and the English breakfast with a side order of biscuits and sausage gravy were scrumptious.
I love places that have been around for years, show a little wear, but retain their character and charm. And above all, keep great food and service as a top priority.

Read other reviews and have to disagree with the negatives. 1950's diner with knotty pine panelling. Clean but well worn. Food was good basic home/diner cooking. Prices very reasonable. Waitress excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Would eat here again, and very close to Lakeview Resort where we were staying.

Ruby and Ketchy's isn't much to look at from the outside and the interior isn't either. You have to go a little out of the way off of 68 at Cheat Lake. But it's worthwhile! Places like this are fading fast from our culinary landscape. I've only managed my travels to get me there at breakfast; the lunch menu looks tempting with daily specials. The portions are huge and pricing is very reasonable. The sausage gravy I had on my last visit was very tasty. Make sure you have a piece of pie while you're there or to go!

After reading the reviews of this restaurant, we decided to try it for breakfast. The descriptions of a dive with good food tempted us. But what we experienced was beyond our definition of a dive. There is nothing wrong with old and dated as it lends character and charm; however, unclean and dirty is unacceptable. The remains of several diner's breakfast were left on tables in excess of 20 minutes, attracting flies. The condiment bottles were crusty and greasy. A strong septic odor emanated from the area of the restrooms into the dining area and I've seen cleaner restrooms in gas stations.
It was obvious that the restaurant was short staffed on our visit, which we can appreciate and forgive, but the cleanliness issues and odor represents significant neglect.
Surprisingly, the food was good, but how can you trust the kitchen when the dining area was so poorly maintained.
We won't return.

The locals eat here. Right down the road from Lakeview Resort. If you are staying at Lakeview, eat here.
