The atmosphere is very dark, but nice. The server was attentive, but read the specials. I was quite surprised that the porterhouse special was $55 so I opted for the osso bucco which was good. As we dined, the place filled up and made the sounds from the bowling alley less obvious.

One of two better known Italian restaurants by WVU campus (the other is Oliverio's Ristorante), Stefano's looks more elegant an expensive, is warm and cozy, has great service, and offers some fine dishes. But Stefano's is actually also on the expensive side.
We ordered a home made soup, in smaller portion, with cream and crab meat, an Orecchiette pasta and a Linguine with claims and garlic sauce, and a St. Peligrino soda for drink. Just as with the soup, these two dishes are also small, particularly when it costs $56 before tips for a dinner with no alcohol. However, the nice and elegant decor, the great service from a waitress, and two fine Italian pasta dishes were just enough to make us happy!

Excellent food. A bit on the pricier side but never disappoints. Definitly try the Meatball appetizer

OK, this is the fanciest restaurant in the basement of a bowling alley that you will ever encounter. The building is in a small strip mall and the restaurant has its own entrance and is quite elegant inside (and no, you can't hear the bowling). It's definitely the place to be on a Saturday night - many patrons were quite dressed up. I hadn't made a reservation so I ate at the bar, which worked out fine - the bartender was very nice, efficient and knowledgeable. I guess they had a wine list but I just asked for chardonnay so that's what I got. Caesar salad was great and interesting - kind of deconstructed: whole romaine leaves with dressing piled on each other; a parmesan tuile; one big crouton that I busted up; and a little parmesan flan with an anchovy fillet on top. I had an appetizer as main course, which was also great - squares of polenta, crispy fried; a couple of huge shrimp; a piece of yummy Italian sausage; and a delicious sort of Romanesco type sauce.

This is our favorite restaurant in town. It consistently has the best food and best service. The servers are very courteous and attentive. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The ONLY negative is occasionally hearing the bowling alley upstairs.
