Just stayed at Lakeview prior to moving our son into Freshman year at WVU. The staff was wonderful; the food average; the service...lacking in some areas. If you're a golfer, this place is great. Showing it's age a bit, but well maintained. Service in the "sports bar" great if you're at the bar; for a sandwich it felt as if we were non-existant as after 20 minutes we had not yet been approached. Dinner prime rib buffet is pretty good; the breakfast buffet is excellent and reasonably priced. In summary, I would give it a 5 or 6 out or 10, as you just can't depend on anything being really good or really bad. It struck me as odd that it was the only hotel in Morgantown area that had rooms available on short notice.

My family experienced a loss quite suddenly 2 weeks ago and we needed to put numerous families up at a hotel. I could not find any place that had indoor pools except Lakeview. It is about an hour from our house but easy to get to. They helped us with a special price at the last minute even though they were busy and did not have to give us a break. The kids loved the pools and the sports center is huge and really nice. A sad situation ended up being a nice reunion. The food in the restaurant with the big deck was great and kid friendly. The other restaurant was not open much but looked nice. I would tell anyone to stay there. Not sure why lots of bad press

We came sat night for my cousins sun wedding. It was my wife and her parents and our 2 small children (we had 2 rooms). It took us over 2.5 hours to get checked in. After checking in we went to eat at the resturant. We had the chicken (which seemed good) from the buffet and went back to our rooms to rest up for the next day. When we arrived to our room we found that we had a unexpected drunk guest that was slipping in my grandmothers room!!!!!!!! He was drunk from another wedding and somehow gotinto our room with his key!!!!!!!!! It took us over 5 hours to get a hold of someone who could handle the situation. They handled it by letting him stay and giving us a new room!!!????
We finally got settled around 3 in the morning. Thats when the train of people pouring from the bars and other weddings. IT WAS HORRIBLE. It sounds like you can hear everything in the rooms. We litterally heard people talking normally in the room across the hall the next day.
We figured we had a bad night but it got worse. The wedding was ok and the staff there were very nice (especially the bartender who gave me exactly what i needed by this time!!!) The next day we felt we had to express our complaints so we waited around for the General Manager to come in. He was in about 1pm (long after checkouttime) on a monday morning and we had to wait in the loby. He was very rude and didnt even listen to our complaints!! He gve us some card for free appitizers and blew us off!!! LITTERALLY!!!!!! So we went and used the item in the resturant and we HAD TO PAY FOR AND EAT THE SAME CHICKEN THAT THEY SERVED US ON OUR FIRST NIGHT IN!!! IT WAS HORRIBLE AND SEEMED LIKE THE SAME BATCH!!! WE REALIZED THAT BY COMPLAINING THE MANAGER ONLY TRICKED US INTO SPENDING MORE MONEY!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! I TRIED TO EXPRESS THIS ON OUR WAY OUT BUT AFTER REQUESTING THE MANAGER AGAIN WE GOT TIRED OF WAITING FOR HIM AND LEFT>>>> WE WAITED 45 MINUTES!!! WORST TRIP EVER!!! I HAVE BETTER TIMES IN A HOLIDAY INN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't visit this resort unless you golf.

We just got back from a family member's wedding and it was way overpriced and completely not worth it.

It started with the booking. My sister was told she was getting the best rate for her wedding. Well, we were given a rate of 129 dollars per night but the resort was advertising a 99 dollar rate online.

They charged us 10 dollars a night extra for a crib, despite the fact that there were only two of us in a room for four. The room acoomodated four but there were only towels enough towels for three. There were several engineering issues including a non working outlet and a broken closet door. Housekeeping servicer was decent but there were yellow spots all over the ceiling of our bathroom. The rooms are very small and our room had about a 19" tv, while another member of our family had about a 30" tv. The resort boasts high speed internet access, however, it is interminent, if existent at all.

They have a really nice indoor and outdoor pool. We utilized the indoor pool and had a very nice time. They have a small sign in your room that asks you not to take towels to your room to the pool, however, when we arrived at the pool (at ten am), there were only about three or four towels left.

There are very few dining establishments around so you have to eat at their resturant. We ate breakfast there and it was pretty good.

If you are thinking of booking a wedding there, please take heed. There were several challenges with the wedding as well. There were three children at the wedding and two of the three did not get high chairs until two thirds of the way though dinner. Items that were ordered as special surprises for members of the wedding party were paid for but never delivered to their rooms. The weding planner pushed a lot of what you think a wedding planner should do onto the bride. It was asked that members of the family were blocked together and that was not accomodated as well. There was a golf tournament at the same time and they were given priority for everything and it felt as if we, the wedding guests, were second class citizens.

We went during a "Bike" event and there were tons of bikers but the place was remarkably quiet. Bikers get a bad rap, and I will tell you, I will take the sounds of a Harley over children running up and down the hall (which did not occur). After check-in, the room we were given smelled heavily of smoke. When I complained to the front desk, they immediately gave me a different room which was perfectly smoke-free smelling. The beds were comfortable and clean. It was cozy and adequate. If you have a problem walking or are in a wheel chair, it would be difficult to get around this resort as the lobby is NOT connected to most of the other buildings and the outdoor pool is up a hill and the only way to get up there are by stairs. Their are two restaurants, a fancy one and a sports bar. We only ate at the sport bar are the food was really good. For the price, you cannot beat this resort. On one last note, the Fitness building and the Spa are not near the lobby or the guest suites. PS I am not a golfer and did not golf, but the ones who did looked like they were having fun and the staff really catered to them.

Attended a family wedding and reception (host hotel). Both nights of my stay (fri & sat), the place was a zoo. Bad front door layout can't proccess arival of event guests. Negative parking at these times - no plan B or auxillary parking lots. This place is the "standard" hick wedding place. Talked to the higher managment - he feels there is no problem. NOTE: if emergency equipment is required during one of these events, you are f---ed. Did I mention thatone of the other (of four) receptions had a "wedding fight" and some staff was injured. WiFi appears to only work in the lobby. Nice.

I booked through Hotwire..couldn't beat the $24 per night price tag. This is not a resort in terms of lavishness..I think they call it a resort because they have pools, restaurants, fitness center, and gold. The room was okay, need updating, but the bed was comfortable. It wasn't loud at all, but overall I think I would stay there again if I needed to do so. Can't beat the price.
