“Very hard to ride”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2012

Scenery is beautiful. Loved riding to Cass for lunch. Some sections of the trail have such thick gravel that my tires gave way. Other sections were quite bumpy. We only rode 20 miles and I was sore the next day. Not nearly as nice or well maintained as the GAP trail.

“Wonderful, Scenic Trail”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2012

Hiked from Cass to Marlinton on the Greenbrier River Trail with a friend May 2012. The trail ran next to the river for about 90+% of the 25 miles. We saw a black bear, deer, corn snake, other critters and beautiful wildflowers. At times the river was calm and other times it had quite a bit of movement, looked like it would be fun to kayak. At about milepost 65 is Sharp's Tunnel, a 511' tunnel with a slight bend making it very dark, be prepared with headlamp or other light. On the other side of the tunnel is a 200+' bridge. Along the trail there are benches and campsites including a couple of 3 sided shelters, nice for those wanting to take a rest or camp. Some trailside campsites have a large, clean privy and room to tether horses. During our hike, we saw only a few hikers, no horse riders, and about 10 bicyclists, 3 of which were also there fishing. The trail is very scenic, primarily flat, well marked, many access points, and easy to follow. The brochure is extremely helpful, great map and milepost by milepost trail descriptions. There is no cost to use the trail. I hope to be lucky enough to return soon and hike or bike the remaining portion.

“Great trail.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2012

This is a wonderful rail trail stretching from Cass to Anthony, West Virginia. It's close proximity to Washington/Baltimore makes it a great destination for bikers from that area. Near the north end of the trial, there is a great restaurant/ B&B that also has services and supplies for bikes and provides transportation to and from the trail, Elk River Touring Center. The trail ends near Lewisburg, which is also a great destination with good restaurants, lodging and nice small galleries.

Awesome horse back trail! One of the greatest places to ride just beware wildlife runs free and wild in this neck of the woods. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the day!
