“Not bad”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

We stayed at the Inn and decided to have breakfast there (which was not included in the price of being a hotel guest.) Both the service and the food were average. It is a small space and they do recommend reservations for dinner.

“Breakfast”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

We had a lovely breakfast here. Our relatives eat here all of the time, and they just love it. The biscuits are fresh and delicious. The apple butter and jelly are homemade, and we thought they were excellent. Looking around at all of the antiques and reading about the history of this beautiful old mansion restaurant was a great experience.

“A General impression”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

On a trip from Virginia to Kentucky, we decided to take a rest and have lunch in the town of Lewisburg, West Virginia. Lewisburg was sort of a halfway point in the journey. What a good decision. The town has several antiques shops -- antiques being a major interest -- and possesses a historic, small-town charm. We noticed a large white structure called the Historic General Lewis Inn and picked it for lunch. What a pleasant experience. The inn itself is a mix of 19th century and early 20th century, but you would never know it. It all seems quite true to the original 1834 structure. The dining room is lovely, with views out every window, The table settings and lovely servers, all combined for a restful feeling. We ordered a shrimp salad, and it was very good. A note, though: It is the size of a Buick, so bring a hearty appetite. We noticed that the dining room was full of people from the area, which speaks well to the inn's reputation. We hope not only to eat but to stay at the Historic General Lewis Inn on another antiques expedition.

“Historic Inn”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

This Inn is owned and run by the grand daughter of the original owner. It is full of the original furniture and relics. It is amazing and enchanting, like sleeping in a museum with a good bed and linens. The staff is good and the food is wonderful in the restaurant, beautiful gounds and right in the coolest small town in the US ;-)

“Great find”
Reviewed June 13, 2013

You are presented with a huge menu at this old fashioned dining room in the bed and breakfast. And the food is amazing. We have eaten here many times with large groups and everyone always has a great dish. This place is also very affordable and the service is top notch. Skip the Greenbrier dining room and eat here
