I planned my business trip approx. 8 weeks in advance. I debated over the Fairfield Inn and the Hampton Inn. I have been in the area before, so I knew they were right beside each other and right off the I-64 exit. I read the reviews from tripadvisor and decided on the Fairfield Inn - because it had 1/2 star more beside it.
I made my reservation through the hotel (not their reservation department). I recieved emails from the reservation department every day for a week prior to my expected arrival. It had the correct date and room type I had reserved, however, when I arrived at the hotel - the woman at the check in desk said my reservation showed that I was to arrive several days later than my reservation was for. She said that she did have a room, but it wasn't the room type I had originally reserved. She checked with her manager and they were going to charge me $250 more for this room. DUH.... you all messed up my original - why would I be punished for YOUR mistake? I voiced my displeasure to the check in woman and she again left the desk area to speak with her manager - and said there was nothing else that could be arranged. So I left and went next door to Hampton Inn where I told them what had happen - they said they got a lot of business from Fairfield Inn because of "tricks" like that. BTW - the parking lot was empty and that night - I could see their parking lot from my hotel and it had approx 20 cars on the lot.
I was very displeased with this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.
