This Inn is within walking distance of all the shops. This little "moment in time" is awesome. The little things they do, like the "good morning" or the "have a nice night" make you feel like family. I suggest taking a stroll to the Livery and then to the Irish Pub on Washington Street while you are in town. All around.....GREAT long weekend trip with the wife.

Room Tip: Each room is different in period décor....

I found the Inn very old and intriguing, a lot of personal touches, the staff was great, and the food was amazing, but pricey but certainly worth it. I had Room 111, the room wasn’t configured correctly, the TV location was set where no one could watch it, the beds were very uncomfortable, and my bed was so old it had a big dip in the middle and it squeaked if you even moved, I understand the frame could have been old, understandable but mattresses and box springs should be replaced ever few years, this wasn’t the case I thought the mattresses were very old and worn out, not exactly ideal for middle aged people. Don’t get my wrong certainly a very nice place, you might not want to sleep there.

Had a wonderful stay at the General Lewis Inn. As a first time overnight visitor to the inn, we were not sure what to expect. Room was beautifully furnished and comfortable. The staff were all very professional and seemed genuinely interested in assisting with anything you needed. Dinner there was very good and the atmosphere is so relaxing. This is a wonderful place if you want to sightsee, or to just unwind and relax. We hope to visit the General Lewis again. The only thing missing were "ghosts"!

Loved the General Lewis. It's so charming and comfortable. The location is wonderful as well. You can walk to many neat shops and restaurants. I was there with a large wedding party and really enjoyed it. Had breakfast in the restaurant and it was delicious. Bar is nice too. Loved having a glass of wine on the comfy back patio.

Room Tip: May want to request a room away from the bar area if you turn in early.

Beautiful hotel with old world charm and modern amenities. No detail has been missed! The whole Inn is beautifully updated while retaining the historical importance of the architecture and feel. The staff were all professional and authentically kind - always asking if we were having a good stay or if we needed anything.

They have wonderful signature cocktails at the Thistle Lounge with an exceptional wine list also. Lovely fireplace, elegant ambience and comfortable furniture fill the space and provide a great place to imbibe or just read the paper.

The back garden space is an amazing oasis where you can dine seasonally or enjoy a lovely glass of wine. It would be perfect for a wedding or just relaxing. We spent 2 nights out there just enjoying ourselves and meeting other guests.

The Restaurant has delicious locally sourced foods including homemade pastas, homemade sausages and local fish and meats. We enjoyed an elegant dinner and two brunches there.

The room was casual and elegant with fantastic homemade hand soap, great linens, plush towels and even had robes and slippers. Nice chairs and comfy bed.

Honestly, one of the most enjoyable stays I’ve had in a long time. We are already planning our next stay!!
