My wife and I took a friend and his wife to celebrate his birthday and they were astonished at the great Italian food at a very good price. He had veal parmigian (sp?) and said it was the best veal he had ever eaten. All of the pasta dishes we had were very good and the portions were enormous. It was very busy, but the service was not bad at all. Seating is limited so it pays to get there early.

Route 50, from the West Virginia Line outside of Winchester, VA to Clarksburg at I 79, is not rife with dining opportunities, especially after 8 or 9 at night. But it is so much more interesting than the northern tier I 68, so I often take it across WV. A big downside is the lack of dinner options, especially form 8 or 9 on. Wile Castiglia's is in Keyser, and so a small detour, it is worth it. Part of a group of Italian restaurants owned by various family members (not a chain local, exactly), each has been consistently good. I have eaten at the Castiglia's in Winchester (VA) several times) in Fredericksburg 2 or 3 times and in now in Keyser. The Keyser branch is as good as the others and her the servings are jumbo sized (the small calzone was huge). Nothing fancy, but a solid Italian choice with a friendly counter man (you order at the counter, then find a seat). I recommend it.

The food is good - not great. The portions are much too large. The prices are cheap for the amount of food you get. My biggest grip is the way the restaurant is arranged. You stand in line, place your order, then wait for one of the few tables to open up so that you can sit down to eat. They don't have a separate line for folks who have called in orders for carryout, so you have to stand in the same long line.

The location is small, maybe 12-14 tables so if you go be prepared to wait, place your order up front and grab the first table you see. And prepare to be wowed, the portions are huge and the food is amazing, Italian at it's finest. And if you can get Tony to make eye contact with you from the kitchen the whole visit is complete!

Geraldo, brings Italy to your table with each dish. You better be ready to take some home, because the portions are ridiculously huge. I too have travelled internationally, and the quality of food is not sacrificed one bit and I can't figure how he can stay in business with the size of the dishes, at the same time the value is amazing. Unheard of, unless you travel abroad. The building is a "work in progress" that only adds charm to the atmosphere. If you are fortunate enough to meet Gerry, you will see a rich love for life, passion for cooking, and a humble, grateful man for the opportunity he has been given to display his talents to those of us. Unfortunately, it's too far from my home in NM!!!!! Grazie mille!
