I have led numerous Mt. Bike trips along the length of the GRT. We shuttle from the Caldwell trail head to Cass at the northern end and head "downhill" the terrain is mostly graded, crushed stone with a 4-5 mile paved stretch near Marlinton. There are almost constant views of the river although the trail does take you inland at times. Two tunnels over 400/500 foot long and two trestle bridges as well as numerous "whistle stops" make this a great ride. Lots of wildlife along the route as well as camping sites with some amenities (tent sites, pump water, chemical toilets). There are several places to eat in Marlinton and a handfull of B&B's etc. A large portion of the route is remote and you need to plan accordingly.
