Reviewed May 19, 2010

Our first night at this hotel was not good. Our room was very hot and the A/C worked only if I got up to kick it on and then would run for a few minutes and shut off. After reporting it, the staff immediately moved us to a different room and upgraded my family and I to a suite for the trouble. The beds in our standard room were not very comforatable, but we like soft beds. The suite had a very comfy bed. Needless to say, it will be suites for us in the future. The breakfast was outstanding. They had belgian waffles, egg and sausage patties, fluffy biscuits and gravy, fruit, bagels, cereal, juices. he hotel was very clean. Only problem was the pool. Water didn't seem properly treated and smelled a bit. Hot tub was out of service. Location is only minutes from the capitol and easily accessible from I-79. Surrounded by Bob Evans, McDonalds, Arbys, Kmart and a small strip mall. Will definitely stay here again.

My mother-in-law passed away and my husband and I traveled from Minnesota to attend the funeral in Clay. From the minute we checked in until we left it was an absolute nightmare. The staff is rude and lazy, room cleanliness shabby with broken furniture and mold. In the rush to check out and dash to the funeral by 10:30 am inadvertently left my blood pressure behind. I was still in the area until about 8:00 pm and could have been reached by phone after housekeeping discovered the medication. Unfortunately, there was no call and I discovered the pills missing the next day. Trying to get confirmation of the pills location, again nightmare.

Stayed there after Christmas. State electric company workers were staying here at the same time making repairs to the local towns because the snow/ ice caused lots of power outages. Apparently it was a bad week for the worker staying in the room next to us because she came back to the hotel around midnight totally trashed, turned up her radio to full blast, was yelling at someone on the phone and wouldn't answer the door when I banged on it for her to keep it down. The guest on the other side of her had gone down to the front desk and they ultimately had to let themselves into her room twice to allow everyone some peace (once on this occassion and once around 4 am when her alarm went off and she wasn't conscious enough to turn it off). It woke up both my kids on both occassions, but the front desk clerks were more than happy to move us down the hall in the morning. The rest of our stay was perfect. Cookies at the front desk, yummy breakfast, and use of a door off the dining area for easy access to the building and close parking.

We have stayed at this hotel twice during the past year. Each time, we have been impressed by the helpful staff and the good breakfast. Rooms are well furnished and clean. Even though the hotel is not in the center of town, we will probably use it again on our next visit.
If you are a light sleeper, I would ask for a room that is not close to the elevator, especially on the lower floors.

We were traveling through Charleston and could not locate a room, so kept going. We found this property by accident out in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere. We were lucky to get the last room available that night and were not disappointed.

The staff were friendly and helpful at check-in. The room was comfortable and the breakfast better than usual. They actually had eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy in addition to the regular "breadfest".

The only negative was that our room had a connecting door and the woman in the next room was an early riser with a loud voice. The good thing was it got us back on the road early.

My finacee and I went to a New Years Eve Service in Charleston. Instead of driving home we stayed here. The check in clerk was so polite and helpful. The shower adjusted to massage and it felt wonderful. When we walked in our room was chilly within 5 minutes our room was warm. Now that's what you call a heater. The rooms were clean and welcoming. The only thing that we found wrong was that they didnt have a fridge or a microwave. Maybe its because we didnt request one we just assumed that all rooms come with them. Other then that the place was awesome and I would tell anyone and everyone to stay here.

  • Liked — shower head
  • Disliked — no fridge and microwave

A very nice place to stay. I was surprised to find this hotel when we pulled off the highway in what felt like the middle of nowhere.

The staff was pleasant, the room was clean and in good condition. They even had the second sheet to cover the blanket, which was nice.

The complimentary breakfast was tasty and it was possible to find some food with nutrition, not just pastry.

After my late arrival I was happy to find a couple fast food restaurants that share the same parking lot and I grabbed a burger. The next morning I picked up a couple items from the K-Mart next door and was on my way.

If you are looking for a place to stay in this area, this is a good bet and it was reasonably priced.
