On the website, the lodge looks lovely . . . unfortunately the reality is shabbier. We stayed in the Swinging Vine cabin. The location of the cabin is quite nice - right on the river with a good size yard, so there is a feeling of privacy. The cabin did not live up to it's promise. It smelled strongly of cat urine, the beds were very uncomfortable, the bathroom rusty and old-looking. There is a hot tub, which does not shut off, so we had to listen to it all night long. It was definetely not worth the price they charge (the web prices were lower than prices quoted when I called for reservations). The web also makes the site of the lodge seem closely located to things we wanted to do (Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks). Both areas were about an hour's drive away from the cabin. We will certainly go back to West Virginia, but would not stay here, nor recommend it.
