Elkins Inn & Suites

We stayed at the days inn having booked it over the internet from the UK. The check in was flawless, the desk clerks were very friendly and helpful, recommending good eating places for evening meals. We had a room overlooking the street and there was no noticable noise even though we stayed on a weekend. It is an easy 2 minute drive from the centre of Elkins where you can get the usual convenience stores and eats. Absolutely no complaints, budget price, clean quiet rooms, nice folks to help you, what more do you need (or usually get) for less than $50!!??!!

Checked in the same night as a rowdy girls college volleyball team. Endured screaming down the halls and door slamming. Requested to be moved to another floor and was denied because the only other floor with rooms were jacuzzi suites and they refused to give me that room at the $70 price point. I was moved to another room on the same floor and the noise continued long after I called the front desk to inform them about it. I ended up just leaving the TV on all night just to drown out the slamming doors. Got about three hours of sleep and was woken up at 6am to screaming next door. As I was checking out, I requested a price adjustment and was offered 10% off. I asked for more of an adjustment and was told the manager would get back to me. I left four messages over the next six days and she never returned my calls. I called again today and was told by an unsympathetic desk clerk that the manager and the owner discussed the situation and feel that they handled my complaint appropriately and there would be no more additional price adjustment. I feel they could have made the situation right and simply chose not to. I'm very disappointed and expected more from a Days Inn.

In addition, to the lack of customer care I received, the hotel looks like a dive and needs to be updated. The beds are rock hard and you feel like you are in an institution. The bathrooms look like the kind you find in an old high school locker room.

I recommend the Days Inn in Bridgeport. They have excellent customer service, friendly desk and housekeeping staff, newly updated rooms, great mattresses, and are very accommodating to visitors.

In town for a high school reunion. Stayed 3 nights. Hotel is very clean and in excellent condition. Friendly & helpful staff. They had 3 rooms available, gave us the keys to all 3 rooms and let us select which room we wanted. Had key card time out problems. They weren't programed for a 3 day stay & we had to get them reprogrammed each day. The rooms are different - some have fridges, microwaves, tubs. Due to its hospital history, the sinks are in the room, the rooms are large & well air conditioned, the elevators large and the bathrooms are handicap equipped. The windows opened for night time sleeping. The coffee shop is closed. There is a steak restaurant on the lower floor. Elkins now has good cell phone coverage, a change from our last visit. We stayed at the Econ-Lodge last time, but prefer the Days Inn.

We spent two nights in a two-room suite in this former Elkins hospital, and really enjoyed ourselves. We loved the suite, the two TV's, the fridge, microwave, the large vanity, the toilet/shower room with nice white towels, the hairdryer, the shampoo, conditioner an lotions, plus the view of the mountains. The staff was friendly and efficient (and the lobby was quite beautiful). There is free coffee/tea in a small room off the lobby, but we had a coffee pot and coffee/tea in our room if we had wanted it. Instead, we brunched in a breakfast/coffee shop in the back of the hotel which was delightful! I loved the blueberry pancakes! And we also discovered a large additional parking area out back as well -- we'd suggest that the lobby staff be sure to mention this to incoming patrons. We were mistakenly charged twice for our room, but once notified, the hotel's customer service contacted us the following day with a nice and friendly apology and note that the duplicate charge would be refunded (which it was in a day or so!) We'd definitely stay in one of this hotel's reasonably-priced suites again.

But a bit high for comparable service and features at other hotel chains. This hotel was formerly the local hospital...great walk-in shower, quiet, clean, central AC system and a pleasant evening desk clerk. A convenient location, but then Elkins isn't all that big. On the down side...Breakfast was minimal, at best, the bed was like a mortuary slab and the Wifi was very limited (only in the lobby).

The facility advertises as being "pet friendly". I contacted the facility directly and made reservations for 3 suites. I informed the person taking the reservation that there would be 2 small dogs with us - 1 small dog in two of the suites. After our arrival the evening desk clerk became very rude and made it clear that pets were not allowed in our rooms. We were allowed to stay, but desk staff continued to be rude and housekeeping did not clean our suites during our stay. Not pet friendly.

Elkins, WV, Days Inn Elkins
10 October 2008
We enjoyed a wonderful train ride on one of the local scenic trains – great fall colors; but were dismayed at hotel check-in to find that our hotel room had neither a window nor ventilation. We were in room #315. It was located in the very center of the building (think of a donut, the donut being the hall and the hole being our room.) When we requested another room we were told that there were no other rooms available either in our hotel or anywhere else in Elkins. We were very disappointed in our room and, even in WV, to think that someone would consider the room habitable; (I don’t believe this room or the building configuration would meet National Life Safety Codes, will be calling the local Building Inspection Dept. on this.)
WV was great but the Elkins Days Inn is not the place to stay.
