“Perfect B&B in WV”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2011

We spent two nights at the Chestnut Ridge Country Inn, which is very well located in the Pocahontas County. Paula & Larry made everything possible to make us feel at home, and they succeeded. They also provided a lot of advices about what to do and what to see in the area. The Snow Ridge room is beautifully furnished and very convenient. The breakfasts are unbelievable, and Paula even shared one of her recipes with us. We also appreciated the friendly evening chat with a glass of local wine.

We were at a meeting in Baltimore and decided to stay a few extra days and spend some time enjoying the fall colors of West Virginia. We were with another couple and stayed three nights at the B&B. Paula and Larry were the best of hosts...visiting with us every evening in their living room, providing us with excellent local wine, and sharing great ideas of things to do during the day. They completely arranged for a day train trip on the Cass Scenic Railroad, including lunch ...this experience was the highlight of our trip. They also directed us to Lewisberg to the annual "TOOT" (Taste of our Town) Festival which let us experience a lot of the local culture. On the last night, Larry had a wonderful fire in the firepit for us, where we sat with other guest enjoying wine and conversation. Truly a great place to stay and we would definitely do it again!

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Inn. We found the Inn Keepers, Larry & Paula, to be very warm and friendly - making sure that we were comfortable. Our stay followed a very exciting, fun-filled afternoon at the annual Autumn Harvest Festival / RoadKill Cookoff in nearby Marlinton. That evening, Larry & Paula joined us and other guests as we watched an exciting game of WVU football. Larry shared some tasty glasses of wine from a local vineyard, as well as some snacks, while we gathered around the TV and talked. Our room was on the first floor just inside the main entrance. A beautiful fireplace, antique furniture and a private bath were all very much appreciated. After a cozy night's rest, we were treated to a delicious home-cooked breakfast to start our day. With fresh-brewed coffee to go, my wife and I strolled around the property and enjoyed the serenity of a quiet country morning before we began our journey back home. We are looking forward to returning to the Inn in the future. Thanks Larry & Paula for a great stay!!!

We stayed at the Chestnut Ridge Country Inn because of its proximity to the Cass Mountain Scenic Railroad. What a pleasant stay! We had a first floor corner room with a stone fireplace and private bath. It was lovely and comfortable. We almost wished it was winter so we could use the fireplace! We understand that a lot of skiers stay there when they go to Snowshoe.
Our host, Larry, fixed a great breakfast every morning! He also assisted us with info and directions for nearby restaurants and a map and directions for our departure.
We would definitely stay with Larry and Paula if we're in West Virginia's Pocahontas County
again!

Imagine this, you wake up after a good nights sleep in the quiet, cool mountains of WVA. You walk downstairs grab your fresh brewed cup of coffee and head to the deck in the backyard. You sit down sip your coffee and look out on the stream, pasture with grazing cows and the mountains. Life is good! Your host comes and greets you and announces breakfast. This is the way to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of WVA. Great hosts and a fantistic facility.

I was on a business trip and stayed for two days. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was great. I felt like a queen.

If you want a break from all the busy life, you need to stay in the mountains and enjoy this quiet place.
