Bright Morning Inn

The Bright Morning Inn was one of many great things about our trip to Davis. The room was lovely: clean and nicely furnished. The breakfast was wonderful! The peach pancakes alone were worth the trip. We also loved that there were board games available for guests and we enjoyed several games of Scrabble. Susan, the innkeeper, was friendly and helpful. The location couldn't have been better. We could walk to several restaurants and a great coffee shop. It is short drive from Thomas, which has some nice antique shops and another good place for coffee. Blackwater Falls State Park is only a few minutes away. We do recommend bringing slippers as the old wood floors are rough and can be cold. Also, the rooms do not come with shampoo and conditioner so bring your own. You will find some travel-sized shampoos and conditioners in a basket out in the hallway but we had a hard time finding any that contained enough shampoo/conditioner for more than one shower.

We love the Bright Morning Inn in Davis. They have a very homey atmosphere, a good selection of magazines to flip through, and yummy breakfast (esp. the apple-bacon-cheddar omelet). The bar of soap I bought there has made my whole bathroom smell like lavender since I got back. Only one tiny issue; mattress sagged a little toward the middle.
We will be back soon.

Room Tip: Room at the very back of the Inn has a light just outside the window that stays lit all night (parki...

What luck finding this beauty. Clean and neat and very cozy.
Enjoyed the town of Davis and the best Italian restaurant two doors town.
The Inn has everything you need and you feel like it's your own home.
The rooms are adorable and the area is just perfect for seeing Blackwater Falls.
Breakfast was wonderful here too. Would love to return someday.
Don't look anywhere else. This is the place to stay.

Our family of 5 + 1 had a lovely time at this cozy Bed & Breakfast! There are no awkward talks around a table with other guests yet the atmosphere is friendly and inviting among all staff and guests. We loved how clean and tidy our family suite rooms were and that they easily accommodated 2 adults and a baby in one room and 2 children and an adult in the other room. The bathroom was small but had everything we needed. I'd recommend that padding be put on the back of the master suite bed as simply getting in to bed or moving to get comfortable caused it to knock against the wall and wake up whoever was on the other side. Also, if you like a dark room to sleep in it is actually quite bright in the master bedroom of the family suite due to road lights and the front porch light of the Inn being on. Also, the noise from traffic passing by is a bit noisy at times, but, we were still able to sleep nicely due to exhaustion of traveling! The beds are very comfortable and we loved the antique furniture.
Our children absolutely adored the sitting room downstairs. There is a piano with a few pieces of sheet music that I enjoyed playing as well as puzzles and games, magazines, and books to keep busy ones occupied. I even spied a large bucket full of baby toys. How thoughtful!
The best part about our stay was breakfast in the morning. My husband couldn't stop raving!!! We stayed at Bright Morning Inn on our way to and from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Everyone kept talking about how excited they were to eat at the Inn on the way back! :)
The town is quaint and pleasant. We enjoyed eating dinner at a restaurant next door, going to a thrift store, getting ice & snacks at the local grocer, and visiting Blackwater Falls!
Thank you to Bright Morning Inn for creating such a lovely atmosphere and warm "home" for us to stay in! We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in the area!!!

Room Tip: Family suite is perfectly sized but noisy as it is nearest the road

This charming inn has nice cozy rooms, decorated in a country inn style, very nicely maintained. All the rooms are upstairs and decorated with pretty quilts and antique furniture. There are eight rooms to choose from, some with queen, some with double beds and/or single beds. The inn website has a page with descriptions and a diagram to help you select which of the rooms is right for you. We had Room #7, a corner room at the back. Rooms are on the smallish side with pine floors and equipped with a ceiling fan, portable heater, clock, bureau, two nightstands, closet, and a luggage rack. The bathroom is small, with a shower, sink, and toilet. A bar of fragrant glycerin soap is provided with your towels. Outside in the hallway you'll find a basket with toiletries, two hairdryers and a small fridge. Wi-fi is included and password protected. Keep in mind that this building was built in 1896 so there aren't as many outlets as in modern buildings.

We arrived in late afternoon and found an envelope waiting for us with keys to the inn and room and info on how to contact the owner, who lives across the street. The first floor has a comfortable sitting area and TV (no TV's in the rooms). The other half of the first floor is the restaurant which serves breakfast beginning at 7:30 am. A nice breakfast is included with your stay and there are several delicious choices on the menu. The restaurant is closed to the public on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but the owner will make a breakfast for guests.

As we were there on a Wednesday morning, we shared a breakfast with the owner, Susan Moore, who is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us many helpful tips about where to visit. She's a local and we enjoyed talking about the history of the area and the effect of last year's storms on the park. She keeps the sitting area stocked with lots of books and brochures about places to visit while you're there.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back to avoid the street noise. You can park on the street or in the lot at th...

We chose the Inn based on the reviews. We loved our stay at the Inn. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding. It was nice to choose what you want from the broad menu. Susan, the owner, gave us excellent recommendations for our day trips. The central location allows you to walk to the restaurants on the main street.

Would recommend this as a great place to stay in the Davis, WV area. Just minues from Thomas. Rooms had a lot of character, were very clean and bathrooms were well updated. The included breakfast in the restaurant below was fantastic. This stay was well worth the money. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The Davis, WV street noise was a bit loud at night-if you're a light sleeper ask for a room in t...
