“Great place to stay, difficult to find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

Quick check in. Helpful and friendly staff. Neighbor left a 5:00 a.m. wake-up alarm ... apparently for no one (didn't shut off for several minutes) ... not Holiday Inn's fault, but annoying. Oh well. Breakfast was very good with lots of good choices, dining area neat and clean. The only real issue was attempting to find the place when travelling from the west (you can see the sign when driving east). It's hidden on a frontage road that even Google Maps couldn't locate. Acutally stopped at the Comfort Inn to get directions. BUT, it was worth finding.

When we arrived the staff checked us in and gave us bottled waters and a snickers bar. They were friendly in the evening and morning. The hotel was clean and I would stay again. The breakfast items were fresh and a good variety.

One of my favorite hotels to stay overnight is holiday inn express, this is one is one of the best!! I walked in to our room thinking it would be just another room. Wrong it was super and so clean!! I love the bathroom sink, it was more of a bowl. Plenty of room and smelled fresh!
The front desk staff was one of the nicest and helpful you will find any where!. On our way out they made sure they said have a great day!! What hotel does that? Usually they are busy and pretend they don't see you, what a nice feeling to know your acknowledged! We stayed on the 4th floor and it was so quit I might have thought there was no one else on the floor. That was great for we were just tired and wanted a good night sleep!! Will stay here again!
Breakfast was great the normal breakfast bar, but clean and full!

Room Tip: rooms on the top our so quit!!

Staff from reservation to check-in/out was great. Have you ever been in a hotel where EVERY employee at EVERY level asked you how your stay is going... Everyone was doing everything that they could to accommodate their guests. I witnessed staff replacing the desk chair in one room. Property has a very new and modern feel. There was a manager's reception with snacks & beverages from 8 to 9. As others have mentioned, luggage carts had gone astray; staff made every effort to help guests and to find them only to learn that an elderly couple had taken one of them and admitted they should have brought it back sooner. This morning, I found one in the hall on the fourth floor and let the front desk know. Room requests were granted and rewards members were given water and their choice of candy. When we arrived, hallways were a bit warm but the room was pleasantly cool. The bathroom and room decor were attractive, comfortable and quiet. The lighting at the foyer mirror is perfect for putting on makeup. If you happen upon a bed that the bedside table dip, just sleep diagonally. Breakfast didn't offer REAL oatmeal but had instant available. The coffee and eggs were really good. If you have an issue, give them the opportunity to make it right.

Except for a Hampton at Myrtle Beach, this is the nicest motel I've ever stayed in. To begin with, it is very accessible with plenty of parking. It is very new, and the decor is modern and fun. Since I have lung issues, I appreciated the fact it had never been smoked in. The room was unusually clean, and the bed was SO comfortable. Breakfast was good--we loved the pancake-maker, and the coffee was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable, too. One other thing--the motel seemed full the second night we were there, but we didn't hear a thing. It was very quiet. Highly recommended!

We've stayed at 2 other suite hotels in the area in the past. We visit family about twice a year or so. Thought we'd try the HI Express Inn and Suites. The rate was less than the Embassy Suites downtown and about the same as Microtel. For the money, the Holiday Inn beats both. We had no road or train noise and enjoyed not having to pay extra for parking.

Upon arrival, the front desk staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Check-in was easy. They even offered me a bottle of water for the road when I checked out.

The entire hotel has a "new" feel to it. So many in the area have seen better days. Room was clean and spacious. We had the 2 Queen Suite. FYI the sleeper sofa is a Twin. We expected a Queen, but we had plenty of floor space for the kids, who don't mind. Beds were comfortable and came with 2 pillows per spot- firm and soft.

Bathroom and kitchenette sink are the bowl style.... the kind where a bowl sits on top of the counter. Trendy and different, but if I had small kids, it would be impossible for them to brush their teeth or wash their hands.

The room had a fridge and microwave and full set of REAL dishes and silverware. An unexpected benefit if we were planning to stay longer than 2 nights.

Breakfast was above average for most quick breakfast hotel offerings. Highlight was the automatic pancake maker. Kids enjoyed this, although the pancakes were kind of bland. Still a treat for the kids. Typical cereal choices. Also had biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage, and eggs. The eggs had some kind of salsa or something folded into the center. One of the kids asked for "just eggs" and the breakfast staff kindly and quickly brought out basic scrambled eggs. The cinnamon rolls were pretty good too. I usually don't like hotel breakfast pastries, but I could eat those.

Getting to the hotel is a bit tricky. If you turn left too soon, you end up back on the Interstate. We only did that once.

Walking distance to Golden Corral, which is in the adjacent parking lot.

My only complaints are minor:

There were no pool towels. The front desk person brought some quickly, but only a few. Not enough for all of us and never came back with more after he took the full hamper away. We grabbed the little towels from the adjacent exercise room.

Two of my kids forgot their toothbrushes. When I asked for the complimentary ones, I was told they had run out.

In both instances, the staff was friendly, courteous, and apologetic. If not for the pool towels and toothbrushes I would have rated a 5. Will definitely stay here again when we visit family.

Room Tip: Queen suite rooms sofa sleeper is a twin, not queen. Nice to have real plates and silverware along...

Dear Donna P,

Thanks for the great compliments! However, we are sorry about the pool towels and toothbrushes. We have taken care of the pool towel issue, we were running low and we were waiting on our shipment during your stay. We do sell nice toothbrushes in our gift shop that is available 24 hours a day. We hope to see you again soon! Thanks for staying!!

This hotel was clean, and comfortable, with a helpful, friendly staff. They offered free snacks and beer/soda at a specified time in the evening. The heated pool was also great to relax. We spent two nights here and it was great after a long road trip.
