“No finer grape leaf rolls anywhere”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Mrs. Bourakis and her family use only the young, tenderest grape leaves, and the filling is well seasoned with just the right touch of lemon. Great gyros too!

“Best food in the mall”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

This place is the only place in the mall that actually cooks their food and doesn't just prepare or heat up prepared food. It's definitely the place to grab lunch if you're in Charleston for a convention or something.

“Good Gyro”
Reviewed June 27, 2012

This location is in the mall food court. I was with 2 other people and they both said there food was very good. I had the Gyro with chips and a med drink special. It was very tasty and the bread wrap was fresh. A grady value for a great meal.

“A total surprise in the Mall”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

Best of Crete has been both the best Greek restaurant in Charleston and the best food in the Mmll forever (30 years now?) I know that's faint praise as it has never had much in the way of competition in either category but it really does have great food. The dolmades are particularly good, as are the gyros. It may not be authentic Greek, but try the corn bread with the stew. The stew is good, but the corn bread is about the best I've ever had. The chicken is good if you get it fresh (early lunch) but does tend to dry out if it's been sitting there for hours.

And of course, the baklava is beyond good. Try all the other baked things also - very good.

Atmosphere is standard mall food court, complete with plastic tableware. Try to get beyond that and take it as a funky local quirk. This is worth going to and coming back to. (These days, it's the best reason to visit the mall.)

“Good Greek food, but poor surroundings”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

It's in a mall food court, for Pete's sake. The food has to be kept hot on the steam table, you have to eat it on a semi-dirty table with a plastic fork and surrounded by teenage mall rats. If you're in the Mall, though, it's your best choice. Locally owned, not a franchise, and honest Greek food. Get the chicken or a gyro, and several Greek pastries.
