This is a nice place to visit and take some time off when you are traveling through going from east to west through the USA. Charleston is always a stop we make and stay at the riverfront area. The Kanawha River is a nice hangout for boaters and partiers.

This park on Kanawha Boulevard along Charleston's riverfront is a nice place to take a walk or go for a jog while looking at the Kanawha river and appreciating the views of the beautiful homes on the river's opposite bank. There's an outdoor stage which I'm sure is used frequently for performances on the weekends and holidays but being that I was there on a cold Monday night it was empty and the park itself also seemed quiet the next morning when I passed by,a few joggers doing their morning routine is all I saw at around 9am. I can only imagine the crowds when there's a special event going on!
Either way do check it out,the views are worth it and it's the best option for your morning excersize routine since it's an integral part of the path that lines the river.

THis is a nice venue especially during festivals, etc. The Do Wop and Rod festival will be coming soon and will showcase cars along the river. During the summer , free live music events happen every Friday night.

Free open air music right on the river front on a Friday.
Take a leisurely stroll along the riverfront or take a seat along the riverside and take in the view.
We walked across the river over the bridge and walked part of the carriage way trail and up through the park on the opposite side of the river.
Take a stroll either way and discover the signs that tell the story of West Virginia's history, for example how they found the first gas well. that's where we found the Capital builing.

I really enjoy coming here just to wander around aimlessly and dip my toes in the water from off the ramp. There really isn't much more to do than that. (From my experience). It's an attractive enough place, but they really could do more to enhance the beauty. Particularly clean up the graffiti and trash. It's got a lot of potential.
