“Interesting but poorly laid out”

The museum is a good bang for the buck (Since it's free) It has such artifacts as Daniel Boone's gun and the noose that John Brown was hung with. I did wish that it had buttons where you could start the narration in different sections. Also it wasn't marked out well enough so you went from the 1880's to the 1930's and had to backtrack to find the decades in between. Having said that, I would recommend visiting this while in Charleston.

“WV State Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

This state museum give a walk in the history of the state which was fun and kept us involved and moving on. It wasn't just about coal and the Civil War. You can stop to take in as much of the facts and information as you wanted to you only had to keep up with yourself. The museum was up to date the staff was very good with all kinds of info and tips. There was a very nice gift shop.

It's right by the State Capitol so be sure to take that in too

“Great Exhibits”

We love the new museum. My granddaughters were preschoolers on our first visit and paid attention to the exhibits. They enjoy going back. The exhibits are the right size to educate and not bore.
