Description: Charleston's authentic farm-to-table made-from-scratch modern comfort food restaurant. With a legion of chefs who caringly practice the art of food, BgK offers delicious brunch, dinner, and desserts for hungry vegetarians, meat connoisseurs, and everyone in-between. In the circa 1920 building with pressed tin ceilings and exposed architecture, Bluegrass also serves as a gallery for local artists. In the Tap room there's live original acoustic music most nights, with finely crafted cocktails, a curated wine list & a bounty of beers. Close to West Virginia's beautiful capitol grounds the family-owned and operated Bluegrass Kitchen has been featured in The New York Times and Wall Street Journal as well as Bon Appetit, Garden & Gun, Taste of the South magazines and many more.

Highly rated restaurant in Charleston, and we were not disappointed. Atmosphere is casual, with local art a nice addition to the premises. Local cuisine is very good, and our server (Herbert) was very personable.

Awesome!
My boyfriend took me here for lunch. I knew it would be good when I saw how crowded it was. We managed to find a seat quickly. As busy as they were our order was taken and delivered quickly. We had The Perfect Chicken Sandwich, The French Provincial, and the soup of the day which was Tomato Bisque and it was all outstanding! The ice tea was as well! The refurbished building creates a unique ambience and has a great vibe. Can't wait to go back! We had a great time people watching and checking out the different art work on the walls. It was impressive how fast they got people in and out.

We were in Charleston on business and found Bluegrass. Service was great sitting at the counter/bar. The ropa with homemade noodles was great, but the coconut creme cake stole the show.

This place had been recommended to us when we had stayed at the local B&B, The Brass Pineapple. Bluegrass Kitchen is a fun restaurant with a "hip" atmosphere - they offer both table and bar seating. We learned that their menu consists of local, organic, and free-range products, and that all dishes are cooked/baked on the premises. One of the owners is reportedly a long-time vegetarian, and you'll certainly find a wealth of tasty vegetarian options availble, beyond a standard pasta dish that you'd find elsewhere. We were quite pleased with our dishes - we had split an appetizer and entree and were quite comfortable. Prices are a little higher at this establishment (but remember that you're also paying for higher quality ingredients), as are their alcoholic beverages. The one kicker is that this restaurant is not located in the trendier walkable downtown region and is best accessed by driving to it and parking on the street/their designated lot.

Found this place on Tripadvisor and had lunch on a Tues in March. Place is a little small and was packed so we had to wait about 10 mins. There is a small waiting area in the front with windows that open to the street. Menu was diverse and finding a vegetarian option would be easy. I had the egg salad which was OK. Bread was fresh but the egg salad could have used a little more flavor to it. My brother had a blackbean burrito and stated it was pretty good. All ingredients seemed to be high quality. Dinner menu looked pretty good but limited. They do have a small bar for mixed drinks. Restaurant is a little further from downtown area but there are a few other restaurants near here and a nice dog park next door. Local hangout for people from the captial and friends getting together for lunch.
