This is a great full service hotel. It is easy on/off the freeway. You can self park in their attached parking garage. It cost $8. The rooms are very comfortable especially the beds. The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet. We also ate dinner there and the food was very good. One reason we enjoy stopping at this hotel is that you walk across the street and you are at a major mall.

Overall, the Marriott Charleston Town Center has a lot going for it: comfortable rooms, a good restaurant, a desirable location downtown, and free internet access in the business center.

Unfortunately, rooms on the south side of the building (with the king beds) are above the inadequately soundproofed second floor ballroom, and we were dismayed to discover that loud music from nighttime receptions there was an audible nuisance--even up on the 10th floor where we were staying. Apparently the management is aware of the problem but does not hesitate to book late night receptions with music for the ballroom, despite the obvious bother the noise imposes on many of their other guests.

On Friday, our first night there, the music ended at 10 p.m. On Saturday, however, it kept going until 11 p.m. Then, on Monday night (it was a holiday weekend), we discovered the music was contracted to blast until midnight. When we expressed concern, the front desk staff offered to switch us to a room across the hall (the rooms with two double beds), which we gladly accepted. Finally, we had a restful and quiet night at this hotel.

Also, be prepared for long waits for crowded elevators on a busy weekend -- only two of the three elevators were working regularly for hundreds of guests to access the 16 floors, which required lots of patience. (Apparently the third doubles as a freight elevator, and at least during our stay was not typically available.)

Because of these problems, we would hesitate before staying there again...or at least, insist on a room on the quiet north side of the building.

This hotel is directly in the downtown area across from a mall...which was nice, we walked the mall that evening we stayed, and ate at the food mall inside. The hotel was a little too fancy for us, and expensive.
The part which made me mad was you had to pay for high speed access, and you had to pay for parking!
Considering we paid alot for the room, we thought those 2 things should be included.
Other than that, the room was nice, and the pool, and jacuzzi was just the right temperatures.

Stayed here February 23-24. The hotel was nice and clean, rooms were clean. Had a nice heated indoor pool on the 3rd floor which was nice. Also had a well equipped fitness room. The location is great, right across the street from the mall. Hotel also has a shuttle service which takes you to the Tristate casino where they have slots, and greyhound racing.

Only things that I would complain about is that the room did seem a little dated (especially the bathroom decor), and the elevators were very slow. Could have been due to the amount of people in the hotel.

The hotel had a reasonable priced breakfast buffet $10 which was ok not great, but for the price can't ask for too much. If in the Charleston Area I would definently be staying here again

we were in charleston for a wedding and stayed at the marriott. driving up, the property does not look that impressive, but it's a different story when you walk through the doors. the lobby is open, spacious, clean and elegant. we were pleasantly greeted and quickly checked into our non smoking king size room. the bathroom had marble floors and the shower was spotless. the bed was HEEEAVENLY. i love that hotels these days are competing with one another to see who has the best beds. but we slept very well on the beds. as we were only in town for one night, we didnt get to explore much. but we did do the brunch buffet in the restaurant adjacent to the lobby and had a great experience there. everything tasted like good homemade goodness and the prices were affordable at about $9/person. the hotel is not an over the top luxurious place, but it is clean, safe, efficent and overall very comfortable.

on a random note, west virginians are SOOOOOO nice! being from nyc, my fiance and i were a bit taken back at first. but it was very nice :).

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The room was very updated and comfortable. The staff was super friendly. It is very convenient to the Towne Center Mall(across street), the river, Municipal Auditorium and Civic Center(across street). Everything is within walking distance, but if you don't want to walk, they are very generous with their shuttle.

We stayed here after a half-cross-country week on the road, and this was the last hotel we stayed it. Overall it was the best. We paid $52 via Priceline for a Saturday night stay. We arrived fairly late to find the hotel very busy. They were hosting not only a high school reunion, but a business convention as well. There were a few of us in line to check in, but immediately they sent an extra person to check us in, who could not have been nicer. He was considerate of us being alone and in a hotel with a lot going on, and assigned us to a room high up. We got a king non-smoking like we wanted. We paid the small parking fee, and parked in the garage right at the hotel. Hungry and tired, we went to the hotel bar for something to eat. They were very very busy and despite the waitress being overwhelmed, she was thoroughly delightful. We had some drinks and an appetizer and enjoyed the smoke-free environment. Upstairs in our room we sank into the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. I felt like I was in my own private cocoon. They had a brochure for the bedding items, and I can see why....they're so wonderful. The next morning we both enjoyed the wonderful shower. My husband proclaimed it the best of the trip.
I have no idea why this is not considered a 4 -star hotel. It has to be a lack of valets and concierge, because the room itself, the bed, the shower, the amenities...all are very 4-star.
