“Very Surprised! Not bad at all.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

We made a quick trip to Hollywood Casino 9-10 March 2013 and was unable to be accomodated at the Hampton Inn (my favorite now). The Inn was also booked, but they recommended the Turf Motel. If you have ever been in the area, you will recognize it for the life sized horse statue atop the portico. For $105 per nite, we were provided a 2-bedroom apartment. There were separate bedrooms, very comfortable beds, sparkling clean remodeled bathroom along with a large living room with table, two comfortable upholstered chairs, frig, microwave and coffeemaker. The sheets were clean and crisp. Located on the first floor of the annex across the parking lot from the lobby, we anticipated a very noisy night ahead when we arrived around 4 p.m., as there were several young males hanging out on the balcony in the apartment above drinking beer. We took the complimentary shuttle to the casino and returned around 9 p.m. for dinner in the hotel's restaurant. I was amazed at the quality of the food. Crab cakes are a specialty and on that particular night, crab soup in a bread bowl was a special. It was fabulous and the bread bowl was out of this world (I ate it!). I asked if the bread was baked in-house and the waitress told me their breads were made by a local baker and brought in daily. Along with a crisp green salad with great homemade blue cheese dressing, it was a memorable meal. My companion ordered the rib dinner and he was very pleased. The total was less than $30! We will never have dinner at the casino again!
We returned to our room and never heard a sound from above or elsewhere all evening. A home cooked breakfast is provided beginning at 8 a.m., but we had checked out by that time.
It isn't the Hampton Inn, but is an older family owned facility that has been remodeled many times. We will definitely not hesitate to stay there again.

All in all, it was an amazing deal for a Saturday night. Clean, basic, very spacious, slightly outdated, but had every thing we needed.

Need to mention the large TV in the front room couldn't get a 'signal', but there were working TV's in each of the bedrooms. We traveled there for the casino...not TV anyway. We didn't bother calling about it.

Room Tip: All the regular rooms were sold out, therefore we booked the apartment. I'm certain the room ra...

My husband and I journeyed from Baltimore to Charles Town for a family wedding for a 2 night stay. Since I work at a B&B in Baltimore, my eyes are trained to notice EVERY small detail. I was pleasantly surprised by our room. It was a non-smoking room on the lower level of the older section on the motel. The room, with a king bed, smelled clean and fresh and was very spacious with a nice sitting area. The bathroom was also quite roomy and provided me with lots of counter space for hair products, make up, etc.

Upon check-in we were handed breakfast coupons for the complimentary breakfast buffet, which we only ate on Saturday morning. It was underwhelming, but decent enough if you want to grab a quick bowl of cereal. We did not eat any meals at the Rib Room.

The motel lounge offered a great happy hour. $2 Rum and Cokes were a great way to start out the night before heading to the casino. My husband also entered the Karaoke contest, which was a fun time! We also met many friendly people who were also just looking to relax and have a nice time.

We would definitely return. We love how close the motel is located to the Casino and that they offer a free shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes (we did not use).

Room Tip: Definitely check out the motel lounge's happy hour!

We had a problem years ago while staying here. We were on the top floor & the elevator wasn't working & we really couldn't do the steps. Were in a real pickle & they were not very good about it. So we said never again. Now we have changed our minds & thought we would try them again, provided it was a bottom floor. So glad we did, these rooms are the cleanest & we even stayed in the old buildings and were totally pleased. Will be staying there from now on. Would recommend them highly. Oh, and by the way, extremely quiet too!

We stayed on Sat. Jan.19 which was a great weekend. When we first saw the Turf Motel and rib room, I was thinking OMG. How wrong I was. We stayed in the older builder but it was a very nice room. Coffee maker in room with microwave and refrigerator. They also have free shuttle ride to the Casino. Only one thing I didn't like, the restaurant at the turf closes at 10 put the bar stays open till 2. You can order from bar until 1. But there's nothing on it really worth eating. Not a late night menu at all. We were disppointed cuz we didn't eat at Casino. Wanted to order pizza no phone book in room. Called front desk, lady said if u want to see a phone book you have to come to desk. No thank! So no dinner, so we didn't even try breakfast . But rooms are nice.

We stayed at the Turf Motel for an overnight trip to the Hollywood Casino and Track. The motel room was acceptable with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, although a little dated.

There is also free shuttle service to the casino, which is right around the corner, as well as a small bar and the Rib Room restaurant (our dinner was fantastic) on premises, and a breakfast buffet is included in the stay. The check-in clerk also provided us with a 10% dinner coupon to use at the Rib Room.

The shuttle arrived promptly and the drivers were always friendly as was the staff. We usually don't stay at motels, but this was a gamble that paid off, with a pleasant stay in a nice room in a perfect location!

Room Tip: We stayed in the older of the two buildings, but the room was quiet and clean. The crab dip appetize...

We stayed Sunday night Oct 7. The rooms we were in have been updated. The bathroom redone and now a fridge and microwave in the room. We were in town to go to the track and this place is in walking distance. We even had a free continental breakfast on Monday morning. We haven't eaten at the restaurant yet but we all enjoyed burgers at the downstairs bar while watching Sunday night football. Cool bar, great location... You can't beat the value!!!

This was the second time at the Turf Motel. For the money, The Turf is a good choice. The king smoking room is large and roomy with micro-frig, coffee maker, and usual toiletries. 32" regular television, table and desk. Nothing fancy but very clean. My biggest complaint is that the bed mattress is extremely hard, I don't mean firm...it is hard, and I found it to be uncomfortable. Motel is quiet, safe and staff are extremely nice. Breakfast is free, limited buffet style, but very good with enough variety to satisfy everyone. Location to casino is excellent, and across the street from fast food restaurants. Would I stay again, yes I will. Compared to the cost, location and amenities, even with the hard bed, The Turf is still the best value for the money in Charles Town in my opinion!

Room Tip: There is a newer section to the motel .
